Solid wheel for a good price.
Solid wheel for a good price. I had an unusually hard time finding a wheel with these specs. I tried to get the local coop to teach me how to build a wheel but they didn't have time to give me the full attention. So I went to my local store, which has sold me stuff for a 1970's bike before, but they didn't have a suitable replacement wheel. This one works great and only needed a tiny bit of truing out of the box. I was very happy to get back on the road on my favorite bike for lazy days.

A cheap price for a good upgrade!!
Probably the most underrated part of a road bike.... But I'm glad I spent the dough!!!! It doesn't come with a cassette, so I used my old one. After installing and using it for over 16 miles, its a great rear wheel. Super smooth and lightweight. Well worth it. The spokes are shiny, the rim is not.

So far impressive, but my mistake, it's the not the right wheel for my 7 speed CASSETTE bike.
Searching reviews after the fact I found "Back rim. Threaded for freewheel not cassette. Had to replace axle with longer one for my 700c Schwinn. Needed to anyway as almost no grease on bearings."I also noticed the wheel spun roughly, which as others have noted, due to lack of grease. Have to ask why that is?This wheel is for a Freewheel, not a cassette. Here is the basic difference:"A freewheel is a single group of gears that screws directly onto the rear wheel of your bike and the mechanism that locks when you pedal forwards - forcing the wheel to be driven by the train. When you’re simply cruising along i.e. not pedalling, or going backwards, it spins freely.A cassette is the more modern option and has quickly overtaken the freewheel. It comprises a collection of independent cogs set on layered rings that come apart and slot onto the body of the (also more modern) freehub component. Got it?"I will not return the wheel. The vendor is not at fault, I simply wasn't aware of the difference. Here's the rest of my original review:The wheel came days earlier than expected. I believe just 4 days after ordering. Fedex delivered on Sunday. It was very carefully packaged. Note, I haven't mounted or tested it as yet. The bearings don't seem to be extremely smooth by spinning with my hands, but I'm sure they are fine for a good work horse wheel. I thought it would come with rim tape, but that was my oversight and I had some handy. I also thought it was wider for my 28mm tire, but others say it will be fine for that size. Shipped from Kyle's in Iowa, I give them 5 stars for conscientiousness. I don't really know how such a decent wheel can be shipped and sold profitably at $50-55 other than sheer hard work and efficiency. I am grateful and pleased.

Great budget wheel, but grease the bearings first.
I was surprised these were pretty decent for the price. They're not light, by any means (I got the matching front wheel too) but they are straight and true, and haven't gone out of true from hitting potholes. The bearings are loose ball-type, and need to be greased before you ride them. Also, the ones I got were drilled for Schraeder valves, not Prestas. Not a huge deal. The hubs look nice, had no problems getting tires on the rim, and overall, a good budget buy for a classic bike rebuild.Note: it says it in the description, but just in case... this is a 126mm OLD axle wheel, for old 10 and 12-speed bikes. This is exactly what I wanted it for, but if you're looking for a wheel on the cheap for a newer bike, this isn't it.

Good For The Price
Five stars on basis of value. This is no Mavic or Zipp wheel, but for doing a 700c conversion to an old Schwinn World, it wasperfect. The alloy Weinmann rim is relatively light, and, best of all, the brakes don't totally fail when wet. The old chromeplated 27 inch wheels were scary when wet. This wheel is threaded for a freewheel, so the original can be removed fromthe old wheel and re-used.Some other reviews have mentioned need of truing and adjustment... I did repack the bearings and adjust, the spoke tension, dish and true were adequate out of the box. Checking such things is really routine, and the reviewers who found they needed attention weren't really finding a defect, just performing the final setup.

Good Buy! Light & Strong.
This was a great wheel. Easy to adjust & true. ALL factory wheels should/ & NEED to be adj'd & trued.Good price/ light & strong.

Poor quality weld
Brakes catch where the weld is and very annoying. Spend a bit more and get something else.

Great
I dont take care of my bike other than leeping it inside, and surprise surprise my old wheel bearings failed pretty spectacularly. Bought this as funds were limited at the time, but im glad i didnt spend more. This wheel has turned out to be great, true sizing and true overall out of the box. It does indeed fit a skinny tire (25s) but id be afraid to go thinner. Ive hit some nasty bumps and it hasnt had an issue. It does weigh more than my old wheel, but that shouldnt really matter if youre just looking for a workable replacement/not racing or anything. Good buy!
