Yes, its normal! I haven't had any issues at all.

Q: Have long have you had the press and is it still working? Theirs only one review, so I'm skeptical.

I've had it about 4 months and it works great. I would by another on if I needed two.

Q: Can someone tell me how to pull it out?

I’m not trying to be a smart A.. but are you sure it’s not already pulled out? It doesn’t pull out very far. Maybe 5 inches . I only say this because I did it. I went to pull it out and it wouldn’t go because it was already pulled out.
