This product was quite pricey, but I knew that when I ordered it. But it was what I needed at this time, so I ordered it. Anyhow, there is no expiration date on the bottles, but there is a very tiny, hard-to-read production code etched into the bottle on the back, near the top - just above the label. So my daughter wrote to Procter & Gamble in my behalf to get the expiration date for my particular lot number (since I read that expired mouthwash can contain bacteria and can be harmful). Anyhow, for anyone who cares, here is the response from P&G on how to interpret the expiration date:The Crest Scope Classic has 24 months of shelf life and based on lot number (L)41565395TA, it will expire on June 05, 2026.A product's production code/lot code tells you when and where the item was manufactured. Use brand-specific Knowledge articles for details on where to locate these codes. Below is how to translate a production code for brands that use a Julian calendar date.How to read a production codeYou only need to look at the first four digits of the production code.• The first number represents the year the product was made. This digit corresponds with the last digit of the calendar year. (4=2024, 3=2023, 2=2022,1=2021, 0=2020, 9=2019, etc.).• The next 3 numbers represent the exact day of the year it was made. To calculate which day this is, use the Julian calendar.• The remaining numbers and letters represent the plant where the product was made, and the production line. You can ignore these.Example: If the first 4 numbers are 4031, it means the product was made on January 31, 2024.• 4 = the year 2024• 031 = the 31st day of the year, which is Jan 31st.
