It's a fob and key.
BLUF: Not for the plug and play folks.Firstly, this is a well made product. The spring is the right tension, the plastic feels like glass reinforced nylon and it has a metal frame supporting the perimeter. It makes my bulky key and fob combo into a nice square unit that fits into the change pocket on most jeans. But...The silicon rubber used on the buttons is flimsy and does not fit properly on your factory circuit board. That same fitment issue also happens as you try to install the board into the fob as it requires filing away at the reliefs on the bottom and the side to get the board to sit flat. The last negative is that the user has to remove the battery keeper/spring off their factory fob to put on this one. Finally, most locksmiths won't cut the keyblank that comes with this fob and if they do, you might end up filing at the key to get it to work right.

It really isn't that hard people!
Ignore the bad reviews this thing is perfect fit. Anyone having trouble failed square peg in the square hole games in kindergarten. It's literally the most straight forward assembly. I was hesitant from everyone saying there was issues. It came in today I put it together and was like "wow how can you mess this up?!" 2002 dodge dakota SLT. Take nail clippers and clip off the trunk button for a flush fit. If you have a trunkits literally outlined where to punch it out. Come on people!

Don't waste your money and read all comments first.
1. Circuit board does fit in the case, but the case is a little to small for the circuitboard. The board is in the way when trying to put it all together. So the board keeps it from coming all together properly. Shouldn't have to modify or grind and cut on pieces just to get it to work.2. Batteries doesnt stay locked in. Falls out when trying to put together.3. Don't listen to all the positive comment and dont waste your money and time on this product. I did everything right, it's just a cheap piece of crap. Nice idea and I liked it. But it was just cheaply made.

Read review! But will work with a little time
I haven't gotten it cut because the screw for the key stripped to easily but other than that heres some basic things to know once you move everything over it which is simple you need to cut or dremel the bezels that hold the battery in place and bend the metal piece that the battery sits on to hit the gold plate on the transponder, the battery wont touch the transponder with it being held up by the bezels then u will need to use something small like a small screwdriver to push the battery in place on the transponder while closing the fab and screw it in without the battery moving after you do that the key will work just fine it could use some stronger screws where they dont strip as easily but other than that it turned out pretty good, some design flaws but with a little effort works well, i would give a 5 star if all u had to do was put everything in and go from there

It does the job
I like that I was able to get a fob to fit my 1999 Jeep GCL. The issue I have with it, is that it is thick and big. You hace to really push the buttons hard to get the doors to unlock. A little thinner and a little smaller and it would be great.

Great with some trimming.
Ended up looking and working perfectly. Moving the battery holder is very easy, just pops out an in. The bigger challenge is using a razor blade to trim some of the rubber out of the way so the case closes. Needed this in 5 spots. Also needed to dremel off a little from the bottom edge of the remote circuit board and a little in the bottom of the case to clear. You will also need to shave off the unused “trunk” button to have everything sit flush. Takes about 10 minutes per remote. Very heavy solid feel to the remote and it looks great. Cannot beat it for $15. Cost me $5 each at ace hardware to get the keys cut.

Workable, but what a hassle!
The concept of this item is great. The execution by the manufacturer leaves a LOT to be desired. The circuit board from your original remote does not quite fit so you'll have to do some tedious finish work to make it fit inside the space given in the new FOB. Also, you cannot just drop in the batteries. You will need to deconstruct the metal ground plate out of your original remote and then surgically reinsert into the new FOB unit. This is an extremely difficult task and not something anyone would expect to have to do. Get the glue gun ready. If you get it right to this point then there is the spring loaded action for the key switch blade...once you open this up u r putting back a rubic's cube to ensure the button properly activates the key switch blade that is supposed to snap out accordingly. Bottom line: this is NOT just "plug-n-play"...be prepared for a tiny, tedious project.

Good for the price but takes some modifying to make it work.
I give it 4 stars. I had grind drown two spots where the tha actual transmiter was hitting the chrome so it would allow me to fully close it. I used a grinder and did it very carefully to not scratch the rest of thehrome piece. Im pretty sure you can use a file. The other thing i had to take off the battery clip off the old one and put it on the flip fob. This was for my 2005 ram.
