Great mic for portable recording and other uses
Some other voiceover actors I know recommended this mic, including some instructors at Kalmenson, so I bought it a few months ago to have a small but excellent quality mic for portable use. I use it with my iPhone 5S and my MacBook.Happy!! It's a great little mic. I have a "deep movie trailer" voice, and this mic is great for that, comparable to my AKG or Schoeps. Today, I used it for a video ecocast on-camera audition shot on iPhone. The mic was clamped to the tripod with the iPhone, and I was 3'-6' away — the sound was clean and tight, and required nothing in post for cleanup. In fact I was able to send in the audition as recorded on the iPhone & the Apogee mic with no alterations or post fixing whatsoever.Just for the record, I've been a sound professional since the early 1980s. I own a dozen mics, including Sennheiser (816 & 416), Schoeps (MK41), AKG, etc. This apogee mic fits in well with them, both in sound and build quality.Apogee mic general notes:Good:1) Heavy for the size, and very solid in construction. Excellent build quality.2) Easy to use with all the USB/Lightning cables you might need.3) Great sound, comparable to other high quality mics.4) Quiet low noise preamp, low self noise, clean output.5) Built in headphone jack allows latency free monitoring.Neither good nor bad:6) The separately available fitted case is a must have, though it does not hold my third party pop screen. It does hold the mic well protected, the mini stand, and the accessory cables.7) Not a fault of the mic - some apps like Audacity you need to make sure the mic is selected, as Audacity does not necessarily use the system selected mic.Weak:8) I wish it had a rolloff filter. I use the mic very close for some things, and I get a little too much bass as a result, as is true of most any cardioid mic.9) The mini mic stand is just wonky, and not a good complement to such a nice mic.10) IMO the mic should come with at least a foam windscreen, but it doesn't. I use a third party nylon type screen that's okay. Pop sensitivity is like most medium to large diaphragm mics, so some sort of screen is useful for close mic-ing.11) Package does not come "factory sealed" so you won't know if it was opened — weird. I know Apogee wants to be "green" and not use unnecessary packaging, but really guys you need to have a tamper-evident seal on the box!In short, I'm really happy to have a mic this good that is plug and play with my iPhone or MacBook. To be honest, even at home I'll more likely use this with my MacBook for a quick audition than fire up the whole studio.

MiC PLUS is Stuido grade!!!
So I have always been a fan of the idea that in the computer age why can’t we have a mic that eliminates the DA converter. I mean signals all go into the computer the same! The difference in price for a mic is the company name, maybe a few tweaks here and there. So my first try at eliminating the old school mic set up was with the YETI PRO. I found out quickly that usb signals cannot travel very far. Also with the yeti that when the ceiling was reached you heard your vocals being squeezed at the top or near the top end. So I scrapped it and waited. So I see this scroll across my feed. I look into it and it pretty much has the same internals as the yeti pro, but again apogee’s teaks here and there could be what I need to break away from the top end vocal squeezeI am highly impressed! This mic competes with my 1000$ mic and it’s plug and play on multiple devices! This review is for in the box studio producers who want to get vocals crisp and clear and have headroom for vocal mix downs! This mic is PERFECT! Easy to use easy to connect and gives you RAW vocal capabilities like your expensive mic without the DA converter. It’s all in one!The positives: EVERYTHING can’t say enoughThe negatives: YOU NEED A LOUD HEADPHONE AMP!! The headphone output is good even when utilizing my MAC audio midi app to increase the volume. But I had an old Mackie BigKnob and just ran the headphone out from the MiC PLUS to it and it’s as loud and clean as ever.If your an artist looking for a nice mic to record without having to build an a tire studio, start here. This is the best USB mic for studio and MAJOR recordingTrust when I tell you that I have a major studio this mic has blown me away

Levels are a pain to use- keep resetting
This has potential - it’s a great sounding mic, even more so considering the price. But it’s a pain to use with iOS because it resets the levels every time you use it. And the meter on the mic itself gives almost no information. Very frustrating to use and “fiddly.”If I wanted to break out the laptop and sit around setting levels then I’d just buy a Focusrite USB preamp and use whatever mic I want. I just don’t see the use case for this mic.

Quality Product with exceptional customer service.
I always choose Apogee products as they create quality products. The Apogee mic plus was purchased due to many reasons: pro level sound quality, size of mic, ease of use while using zoom for virtual yoga and barre classes. I will continue to use Apogee products in the future.

Mic+
The mic+ performs as expected, However the product registration process is impossible to deal with. And Customer service is inflexible regarding their process. I am very happy with the mic, but will not be able to register the product and therefore have no warranty. The reason for the 3 star rating is due to their customer service. The product is good. After third contact with customer service, I was able to get them to take the information in an email and register the product. I am glad to have the product registered but still disappointed in all of the headache that was necessary to get the job done.

Good Product, poor instructions
What they do not mention, when you load the Mic onto the computer it changes the input sound settings of the entire computer to headset. Drove me crazy and even Thier tech did not discover it. Found the "Sounds" settings and changed it back to standard with headsets. They also do not clearly tell you the flashing green light means in standby mode.Recording output is very good.

Warm mic - good for meetings and music.
Besides being a remote worker with several Zoom meetings a day, I am a member of a couple online musician groups. This Mic is great for both.Of course, the meetings are easy, but I struggled to find a good mic for a decent acoustic guitar sound. A guy in the club with great sound recommended this, and I am very pleased.
