Great salt if you don't mind the eggy-ness!
I got this salt because I didn't even know black salt was a thing, and I was pleasantly surprised. As others have noted, the color is not exactly black - it is more like gray-brown/rose dust. I like to put half of this black salt together with coarse Himalayan pink salt in my salt grinder for a BLACKPINK salt experience (K-Pop fans will understand), lol.A couple of notable items - of course, the taste. People describe it as sulfury, but to me, it is not a taste but rather the aroma of hard-boiled eggs! Needless to say, this salt goes great with eggs, lol, but it's also great for cooking. If you don't mind the aroma, it is great on everything - cucumbers with salt and Tajin, other fresh veggie snacks, or on a piece of buttered toast. Again, the aroma might be an issue for some. Two - there are particles in the salt that are not just salt. Before you become too alarmed, they are minerals - they melt down (if you just dump a handful of the salt in water for pasta), but they may need some help getting crushed all the way. In a grinder, that is a non-issue, and those bits provide valuable minerals that enhance the nutrition of the salt.Lastly - this salt (together with my pink Himalayan salt) has been lasting my household of 2 (with frequent hosting and entertaining) for well over two years now, and I do plan on replenishing it when it runs out. It might not be for everyone, but I like this salt a lot!

Smelly but therapeutic and relaxing
I like the term “Take a whiff!” It’s a smelly bath salt but I feel more relaxed than the standard epsom salts I have. It’s good for my spiritual baths and showers. I simply use an empty bottle to mix some with my body wash and use that to shower. Add it in your bath for a relaxing soak. And you have your “Calvin, take me away” moment! The smell probably unclogs sinuses too!

Exceptional Quality and Flavor!
The Pride of India Himalayan Black Salt - Coarse Grind is a fantastic addition to my kitchen! The unique, smoky flavor is perfect for enhancing vegan dishes like tofu scrambles and faux egg recipes. The coarse grind works wonderfully in my grinder, allowing me to enjoy freshly ground salt for optimal taste. I love that it’s packed with 84+ minerals and feels healthier than regular table salt. The 1-pound jar is great for regular use, and the quality is outstanding. Highly recommend for anyone looking for authentic Kala Namak to elevate their cooking!

It will make your food taste like sulfur
I cannot give this any less of an awful product. It definitely is not an "eggy" smell and taste. It's straight sulfur. You can really tell when you grind it down. I put it on steak. It made the steak taste like I was drowning in sulfur spring water. Needless to say, I know what is going straight to the landfill, never to be bought again. Awful.

Sulphur smell
It has an interesting light salt flavor. Not as strong as Himalayan pink salt. But it has an eggy scent to it. Which, if you’re an egg lover and love avocado or eggy toast, this salt is perfect. I didn’t notice the sulphur smell and taste until I added it to a beef stew. Bad move. It ruined the soup for me. So I will be sticking to adding it to things eggs would taste good with.It grinds seemingly easier than pink salt. It’s a brownish color, not black. Like any seasoning, it has its uses, but steer clear if you don’t like the taste of hard boiled eggs, texture notwithstanding.

Let Mr. Curry Speak!
Hey Reviewer: If you want some salt for your bath, then buy Epsom salt! (This stuff is used for cooking, not bathing). Or, if you are surprised that the salt smells like sulfur--then realize that it comes directly from a Himalayan mine, and is not purified like the unhealthy Western refined salt that is devoid of minerals. I have a big connection to all things Asian--yoga, acupuncture, Chigung, Indian and Chinese cuisine, Tibetan meditation. There is something magical for me when I make Indian food with sulfur salt. (Maybe it's Karmic). I also love Tibetan butter tea made with black salt--you need to buy the earthy Chinese Pu-erh tea to make it properly--add heavy cream or butter, and a little milk. This salt is for people who appreciate authentic Asian food. (FYI: You need a mortal and pestle to crush the salt for use)!

Healthy minerals in this salt, including sulphur.
I was advised to buy this black salt from India by my CPA, who is from New Delhi. It has minerals for health in it. It sure does have sulphur, as anything you put in in is marked by that taste of sulphur. I will have to use it only for health benefits, as it makes food and drinks too pungent.

Most important review - please read!
Everyone complaining about color and smell is obviously not a decent chef or foodie. Being disappointed because something named black happens to be more like deep purple is merely quibbling over labeling. Major eye roll. Yes, this salt has a distinct sulfur smell and taste if it’s not dissolved but that also means it pairs spectacularly with certain foods. We use nothing else on tomatoes, avocados and in everything Mexican and Indian. Use Hawaiian red for rimming margaritas or give up and use sugar if you’re that particular. It’s not the fault of the product, just your particular tastes and preferences. Himalayan salts have a higher percentage of minerals than any salt on earth. Sulphur, calcium and phosphorus are the most important elements in the body for good health. I use this and dead sea salts exclusively for curing meats and lacto fermentation - the results are simply spectacular. The higher the mineral content the more robust and complex the flavor as well as better for your health. Expand your repertoire and culinary skills, as well as your overall health and tastes with this marvelous addition to your kitchen.
