Doesn't Work - Never Catches A Thing, For Obvious Reasons
I've had dozens of trips of the trap, most probably by just a couple of red squirrels in my garage (these are barely above chipmunk size), without catching a thing, and not a trace of blood or fur left behind either. Not enough even happens to the squirrels to get them to avoid the traps - the traps are that bad. The same as for standard rat traps placed nearby, probably for some of the same reasons. The nails look impressive but actually are not placed in places they have a chance of working, as the plastic jaws are what would contact the animal and, if anything indeed contacts them. An obvious problem is that the trigger plate is so close to the jaws that no animal can get far enough in the trap before it trips for either the plastic jaws or the nails to work, although the traps do get set off before the bait can be taken. Whomever designed this trap did it solely to look good and sell the traps, but even cursory examination reveals that the design elements related to trapping or killing animals are obviously exceedingly poor. Simply moving the trip plate much farther back into the trap and lengthening the nails would brought the animals to a position deep enough into the trap and provided a grip that would have insured a result when the trap closes. As designed these traps are less likely to trap any squirrel or chipmunk than a standard $2 rat trap, which has a trip plate properly positioned and a spring of about equal strength. Since the $2 traps have also been ineffective on dozens of events with red squirrels, these traps have no chance. At least the $2 rat traps have trapped mice as an incidental bycatch, which these traps have not been able to do. A wire cage-type trap will work just about every time it is tripped, at about twice the price.

Not Catching Squirrels
This trap says it's an escape proof squirrel trap. Well guess what, it's not. I followed the directions completely, but the squirrel had no problem tripping both traps, escaping any damage to himself, and taking off with the food from both traps. I had one trap outside and one in the attic. I think the problem is the food cup appears to be too close to the front of the trap. I don't know, but maybe if they set it farther back it might be more successful. I did put some additional food farther back, but he still had no problem getting away completely unscathed! I am so pissed! I cannot believe that squirrel can escape two traps, no problem. Now I have to pay $400.00 for professional wildlife removal, as none of these do-it-yourself ideas are working. I am giving up as he also chewed through my A/C wiring, costing me additional pain and money! Update.... The wildlife control people I used caught the squirrel within an hour and sealed up the area where he was getting into the building. I can't believe it! I tried for three weeks at least with different do it yourself methods to no avail! Between the professional service cost and my purchases, don't forget the A/C repair, that rotten squirrel cost me at least $600.00! The only good news is that it was a young male squirrel, so they don't think there are any babies up there in the attic. Thanks be to God!

Be aware what you are buying, YouTube it first.
I have purchase two of these traps, I have on the step to my back porch. then also placed peanut butter in trap and peanuts around it then set trap to catch squirrels. Well 8 tripes now the trap was closed and nothing in trap. Then screwed the second trap to the tree stump. also place peanut butter in trap the set. well, this trap was tripped 3 times with nothing in it.I have now just thrown them in the trash.

Best squirrel traps!!!
I’ve caught/killed 6 squirrels in the last 4 months with these two traps! Just put peanut butter in the center and you’re guaranteed to catch them. Easy disposal and clean up. Love these traps!

Looks cheap
Cheap plastic looking thought it would be more durable, very doubtful this will work for a squirrel.

Price of Crap
This is too small, light, and flimsy to catch squirrels. Traps kept getting set off but never had anything in them and they were in different locations than where I placed.Totally useless, I should have bought something better.
