Works as advertised
I have purchased numerous of these handy little gadgets because of my kayaks, bicycle racks and hitch haul. I use one on each to deter theft and rattle. I have a double mount 2 inch trailer hitch receiver where I install my kayak loader and Hitch Haul. The kayak loader in the top receiver hole and the Hitch Haul in the bottom hole. I get dual purpose use out of the setup and I do not have to worry about someone stealing it when I am away from my SUV. Especially my kayak loader which is a very expensive item. This locking system is secure and easy to install. My advice is to keep the pin inside the hitch when storing so the TriMax anti rattle does not fall out or move inside the receiver. One is all you need if you only have the one hitch. One of the best anti-rattle locking systems I have found. After seeing how well my others worked, I wanted to get another, and I had to look long and hard before I found this one on Amazon. Great addition for the toolbox for anyone that uses Receiver hitches and wants safety, security and no rattling sounds for your hitch setup. If you use them a lot like I do, I perform maintenance on them every 6 months. I wash and spray the locking mechanism with WD 40 and I use dry graphite for the inside. I do this because of saltwater and the humidity in Florida where I live.

Much better than most pin locks!
If you don't like hearing that loud clunking sound while towing a trailer, this is the locking pin to buy. First, it must be a "hollow" tow bar not solid. I've used these type pins for years and they do get beat up from the load weight stress and only time will tell on this one made by Trimax. I like the use of SS in most of the parts as the inside spring mechanism is not SS. I tow a 7600lb boat, gear & trailer and after about 3 trips it appears to be working & holding up fine. The locking mechanism is exceptional and very easy to lock & unlock.

Well-thought-out product that falls just short of ideal.
I purchased this as a companion to a Harbor Freight Tools aluminum cargo carrier that fits very loosely in the receiver of our vehicle. The Trimax TAR300 serves double duty not only providing anti-rattle function, but offers security for the attached carrier as well. Although not eliminated completely, the pin works nicely to dampen any up and down movement of the carrier while removing all side to side play. The provided flat wrench is virtually useless to afford the necessary leverage, comfort to your hand, and longevity of the machined bolt head in order to sufficiently tighten the captured nut to eliminate movement. A 1/2" ratchet with a tighter fitting 6 pt. 3/4" socket is the way to go. I was already familiar with the locking feature of the Trimax pin from prior experience with other Trimax products. Although I can't comment on their claim of being the strongest lock on the market, I can say it is secure, durable, and I've never had any issue in 16 years of ownership. I expect the same service from the TAR300. My main complaint comes from the materials used and a misleading manufacturer product description. The Trimax website states (as of 8-30-14) 100% stainless steel construction for this product. The only stainless part is a small sleeve that slides over the pin. The rest is chrome and zinc plated steel. There is no 100% stainless option like Trimax offers on their other locking pin products, so long term finish durability will suffer in harsher environments.*EDIT 3-19-15*: While Amazon has significantly changed their product description to accurately reflect the item's current design features, function, and construction since I made my purchase, Trimax (the actual manufacturer) still inaccurately provides the following on their website for the TAR300: " TRIMAX Premium 100% Stainless Steel 5/8 Anti-Rattle Key Receiver Lock" "

Great product
I ordered this product before and it lasted over 10 years. The snug fit with the spacer eliminates wobbles at the hitch receiver entry.

Wouldn't Work With My Receiver
This system has a nut welded on to a U-Shaped "lock nut carriage." The way it's welded on makes it a bit tricky to thread the bolt into the nut, but doable. However, when I insert it into my rack from North Shore, the fit is tight enough that the open ends of the Lock Nut Carriage gets squeezed together a bit. This means that when you're trying to thread the bolt in, it's at a slightly off angle. Over and over, we could almost get the threads to catch, but then it would pop back out. Really frustrating. Bought a second one assuming that the first was just odd somehow and had the exact same problem. Maybe we just got a bad batch or maybe we're just idiots, but it kind of killed our big mountain bike trip so we're switching to a QuietRide from SoftRide. We'll see how that one works. I actually think the design of the TriMax is really slick and I assume it must be working on other receivers, but it didn't happen to work in mine.

Adds much needed stabilty to Allen Bike Rack
Looked high and low for a locking anti-rattle hitch pin and this one fits the bill perfectly. The locking mech is smooth and durable. I leave the rack on in the elements for days at a time and it hasn't jammed or acted funny in any way. The provided wrench leaves something to be desired but you don't need to torque down the pin that hard to where it would round off the end.In order for it to work with my Allen Bike Rack (4 bikes with 2" hitch version) I had to drill out one side of the pin holes to allow for the larger threaded portion of the pin to reach the locking nut on the inner plate. It works great and keeps the rack stable at all times and is more secure than using the supplied Allen bolt while still being simpler to install.

Perfect for my North Shore Rack.
Saw others had purchased this to secure a bike rack so I thought I would give it a shot. As others have said this works great. I have a North Shore Rack and used this to secure the rack to the hitch. Built solid, but the wrench that is included is useless, I used a torque wrench and 5/8's socket to tighten and I have no rattle. They locking function works well and love that I now have it locked to the hitch.

works perfectly
I added a hitch adapter to raise our bike rack 4". The rack has it's own anti rattle pin but I needed a second one for the new adapter. Easy install and works like a charm. The rack is sturdy and safe. Price was just right.

Fait la job mais rouille facilement.
Fait bien le travail pour support à vélo. Doit revisser de temps en temps.J'utilise pour un petit bumper de hitch et il est déjà rouillé après quelques semaines en hiver.
