If you haven't dealt with lava rock before you'd be surprised at how little you get when you order by the pound. I did a lot of research and this was the best deal on Amazon.I love the middle sized rocks because it's great to use as pon for hydroponics (add pumice though), a substrate, or a top dressing.If I have to replace a succulent in a planter, this size is stress free. It can blend in with the soil so I don't have to remove it before I add the new plant.Did I mention that it's also beautiful?While it's not as convenient as many 2-day prime competitors, it's a much better value and worth the wait.

Got the box. Weighed it. 11lbs on the nose. Mini is the PERFECT size for aroids - not too small, not honkin' large.Red lava, black lava, zeolite, and other stones. Four tiny twigs mixed in, but they floated upon rinsing. DON'T FORGET TO ADD PUMICE. Stretches out the mix and retains moisture.Transitioned several plants and will eventually get to all of them. This stratum is ideal and is cost effective and convenient compared to getting the ingredients individually. 10/10

Very cool. I was only expecting the rocks. However it also came with some potting tools and a mat!

Definitely have to use a soil screen to remove excess dust from the rock but it's a great part of substrate i use to make my own bonsai soil. I would definitely recommend and will buy again.

I bought this because it was cheaper than the usual seller I buy from. It was not worth the savings. I bought it for semi-hydroponics for plants. Usually, red lava, black lava, zeolite, and pumice are used in these kinds of mixes. This one has red lava, black lava, zeolite, quartz, unknown white rock, unknown brown rock, bark, grass, and one roach. This won't work for hydroponics. I spent hours picking out hundreds of the white stones and quartz as they won't wick up the moisture. I'm sure some of the other types of rocks I found won't wick up moisture either. I would not buy this again, and I would warn anyone buying for semi-hydro that it's not a good choice. If you are using it as a dressing for bonsai, this would work great.

Came in a broken box, bagged in a ripped bag. BUT it was what I ordered and included an unexpected gift making it easier to use. Happy with value and function is as anticipated.

The bag was a mess, but can't really expect it to be otherwise, it also came in a separate box which is really smart. Very apt for what I was using it for. I used mine for aeration for succulents at the bottom of containers without holes.

These got dust and rock debris all over everything else in my delivery. I have purchased a lot of lava rocks for my plants, and none have ever been this messy. Sure, they're rocks, I get that, but they came in a thin plastic bag that came apart and was just really dirty. The rocks are fine, and once I've cleaned them up, they'll work out just as intended, but I wasn't expecting them to be so high maintenance.
