Ground hard as a rock, used this auger to loosen the ground where I was digging a post hole for a 4x4. Used post hole digger to clean pout after using the auger. Work great and sped up the process.

I needed to auger some vertical holes to install some small posts anchored in concrete. My wife suggested I look at a bulb auger, often used in gardening. I received this quickly and was impressed with its build quality. How quickly this bit bored into the ground was a little surprising. Small, short sessions on the trigger, followed by pulling it back out to remove dirt, is the way to go because this bit will bury itself! The only improvement I could suggest is to make the hex shank a 'keyless' style shank; this bit can only be used with a Jacob's chuck, and the chuck has to be tight to pull the auger bit out of the ground.

Works fine for soft soil but doesn't do anything in harder dirt. Would like to see these with a 1/2 inch impact wrench head instead.

After years of struggling to dig in hard soil, this made it so easy!

It's a great drill bit but it doesn't fit the average drill. I guess I have to get some kind of extension for it.
