Long life
Varta are my favourite batteries due to price and longevity.

Right size batteries but unfortunately wouldn’t work in my clock for some unknown reason. So having used Varta before in other things I know they are good batteries.

Not lasting very long
Having had positive experiences with Varta in the past, I expected these to last. However these lasted less than 6 month on the device, whilst the Duracell and Energizer lasted nearly a whole year (approx. 50% longer). Basically the Varta batteries lasted about as long as Tesco, which you can get for a similar price.
