If you intend to create MP3 files from you cassettes, Read This...
Well then, this will be a different kind of review... I'll start by confessing that this device did not meet my needs and it has been returned. Nonetheless I gave it a five star rating as an acknowledgement of the excellent customer support I received. My project is archiving a couple hundred rare-ish music cassettes by ripping them as MP3 files then storing them on the digital jukebox that blankets our home with music. I have been laboriously performing this using a high end Teac deck and the Audible app on a laptop, but the appeal of this little player was strong enough to catch my interest. Long story short, it is completely inappropriate for my purpose. To be fair, it works as advertised, but the quality of the MP3 analog to digital conversion is low grade, unacceptably so for serious archival use. Worse yet, there is a very awkward pause in the Recording To USB process that prevents it from beginning until your tape is already playing music. To begin recording to a USB thumb drive, you must first press PLAY and start the tape, then press and hold a small RecUSB button until a red recording light comes on. The light doesn't come on until audible sound is already playing from your tape. I can only vouch for this on the unit I have in hand, but Customer Support seemed to indicate this behavior was a Feature rather than a Bug.And that brings us to their Customer Support which was excellent! The documentation included a nice cart that provided an email address for support along with the promise of a quick response. I resorted to that immediately and repeatedly to get to the bottom of my questions and the answers were indeed quick in coming, accurate and complete. With that help, I was able to determine that this wasn't going to work for my particular needs, and easily arrange for a refund of my full purchase price. This device worked perfectly as designed, radio reception was strong and the sound quality playing a cassette was acceptable. It's a useful little boombox at a reasonable price. The only dealbreaker in my case wouldn't affect most buyers. The company explained what was going on and they cheerfully refunded my purchase. I have found that to be rare in these troubled times and so I reward this a five-star transaction.PS, I also suggested to their Customer Support that they update their listing to indicate the RecUSB delay. We'll see if they do so.-Grouchy

Very pleasant experience. Works as promised.
I've only had it for one day but it has already done it's job for me. Although I have a lot of cassettes from the 1990s and a few from 1970s, only a few of them were important to me which I wanted to convert to MP3.After seeing one or two negative reviews, I was worried that my cassettes would get damaged, so I first inserted my "not-so-important" tapes into the player. After seeing them run fine, I went ahead and inserted my important cassettes. The recordings came out great. The sound quality was excellent. It records at 128 kbps, which should be sufficient for most people.Since I only had a few tapes that were important, I successfully got them converted very quickly. So I can't comment on the durability/longevity as of yet although the quality of the product looks very good. At this price point, it should be worth the money.I understand every product has a few negative reviews but my suggestion is to give this product a chance. I'm very satisfied. One last note, for the USB drive, use a SanDisk 32GB (USB 3.0). Nothing else seemed to work. It's relatively cheap so shouldn't be a big deal. Instead of wasting time trying to make other drives work, just go get one of these.

What a piece of junk
Followed directions perfectly to transfer cassettes to MP3. It takes several tries to get a recording. It ate an old cassette tape , when the ribbon was cleared out, it never played another cassette. A cheap price for a cheap product

update
Originally, I gave this product a 5-star rating. After all, where can you find a sharp-looking little cassette player with so many recording features at this price? I got it for only $35.99. but it's a bargain even at a higher price. I have tens of lectures recorded on cassettes, which inevitably lose their quality over time or get eaten by the cassette player. A simple, user-friendly way to record these on mp3 format is fantastic for me, and the unit's sound is quite loud. I highly recommended this product. However, after 3 months of daily use, the speakers started fading in and out when using the cassette player. Luckily, I had purchased the Asurian extended warranty for a few dollars. (the original warranty is not listed anywhere on Amazon, and I could not find the company on the web) Asurian dealt with my claim immediately, all smiles and no hassles. and within a few days I had a new unit. Since they reimbursed me for the full price of the unit, and I got it again on sale, so, essentially, the new extended warranty was free. So, the bottom line is that if you like this product, then buy it with the extended warranty. Anyway, in my experience, most boom boxes don't last more than 2-3 years.

Simple and easy recording.
Easy and simple to operate. Got the job done without complicated instructions and apps to download. Loved the simple dials for volume control and locating radio stations. Liked the manual control for locating radio stations, without the irritation of digital demands.

Did *mostly* everything I wanted - Battery Issue
This little boombox is great for the price and how fast it gets to you. The radio sound is good although the tuner it is difficult to locate a specific channel because of the small tuner window and needle. But next time I will just get a digital tuner radio.I was able to record quickly, easily, and high quality onto blank cassette taps. They play back very nicely. Recording voice onto tape was not that successful. You could hear the sound but it was so soft and the quality was not good at all. I will not use that feature moving forward.I have not used the USB feature - I thought I could use my iPhone but I cannot. The reason I won't give it 5 stars is because batteries did not work with this! I used two separate brands of new batteries and they did not work. This means I have had to use the small power cord it came with which does make it less attractive to use. If the battery worked, I would give it 5 stars.
