Braun Replacement Foil & Cutter - CruZer1, 2, 3, 4-2000 Series

PurchaseThe 32S model number of the foil, refers to the silver body version, 32B refers to the black version.The replacement foil was delivered quickly in a sealed pack. I stored it unused, as a standby for the new razor. I originally knocked a star off, because of the very high price for this standard replacement item (but please see later).Some economy is possible by eking out the life of your existing foil. Simply reset the shaver (press the "on" button until it flashes amber near the base). Then use the existing foil until it fails. You will know when this happens because it will scratch your face very slightly, causing a little localised soreness. Pop the new foil on and reset again.This replacement foil was bought in January 2014, as a standby for the new electric razor. I am returning to this review now, in February 2017, because the original foil has just failed, with a small hole at one end, causing a scratchy feeling on my face. In total, the foil lasted 3 years, with a reset about once a year. That is about 3 times longer than the amber warning light indicated. In view of this long life, and the fact that the replacement foil is not just a foil (as with older electric razors) but a complete replacement unit with foil, cutter and frame, I have decided to increase the rating to five stars.

Armed with scissors and my new shaving parts, I shaved off my mustache. The latter was ruined by a barber after he attacked the roots left and right with a trimmer (leaving it diminished). Those bald areas didn't even grow back!Every time I went for a mustache trim, I would leave the shop with a short haircut! The barber would say “your hair isn't right; it needs correcting.” This has lead to some of the worst and most unnecessary haircuts ever. Correcting my a...!The Brawn series 1 probably isn't the best shaver. I use it on the stubborn mustache area mostly (a wet razor can give me a sore lip). The trimmer is useful for sideburns. The short mains lead acts like a coiled spring. The way it leaps out of the socket at both ends is annoying (the shaver stops dead).I was going to buy a new shaver until I was blinded by science. I only wanted a basic foil shaver with a plug-in mains lead (not rechargeable batteries!). I don't want a movable head; it's like trying to write with a wobbly pencil! In the end it was easier to replace the parts for my Brawn shaver. The asking-price is more than I expected though.Initially, it was hard to remove the old blade. The more I pulled, the more I worried about breaking the cutter off completely. Finally, it was separated from its plastic base without incident (by pulling the blade at one end).

Didn't realise how much a new cassette would make a difference. Been using the original one I got with the shaver for about 18 months now, and the warning light came on to recommend a replacement and the difference is very noticeable now that I have replaced it. Much cleaner and closer shave, which is presumably what I was getting before, but you don't realise as the cassette gets older how much it loses. Prompt delivery too and quite a bit cheaper than getting one from the high street. Would recommend to anyone whose current one is 12-18 months old.

So it's a shaver foil and head. It works and does the job perfectly and has given my shaver a new lease of life after the old foil and head needed replacing. My surprise is that it came from Korea!! Looking back I should have guess it was coming form overseas (and not Europe) from the vague postage/delivery time range given. However - it arrived within the time quoted and very close to the earliest date - so no complaints there!!

This is the third replacement that I have bought for my razor which I have had for some four years now, so you can tell the new heads last quite a long time. The razor still cuts like new with the replacement head, like most things that the Germans make, it is made to last and "does exactly what it says on the tin".

Be careful with this replacement as the cap & foil do not fit the older Braun 1 shaver. It is about 2mm shorter . The cutter blade is also shorter and but can be fitter in, but obviously not such a wide shave as the older orginal model.

I inadvertently ordered a Series 1B replacement foil and cutter for my Braun Series 1 shaver, which I returned and reordered this Series 1 part.This fits perfectly and is cheaper than the Series 1B unit.Delivery was next day and packed securely.

Shaver came in good time and was in good condition. The price was less than I could find elsewhere but still too expensive - people are always robbed on replacement parts of this nature. The new cutter is a bit better than the old one but, overall, not a great product. You get what you pay for, don't you? - if you buy cheap, you can't expect quality.
