Caroline Quentin - A Passage Through India [DVD]

Life in India outside tourism.
This DVD is for my own personal use. Excellent. Caroline Quentin is a very down-to-earth person and interacted very well with the ordinary people of India. I liked the way the dvd skipped quickly over the normal tourist things e.g The Taj Mahal and concentrated on the "off the beaten track" life of ordinary daily life.

and is very good, well worth a look
This is a made-for-television film in three parts, and is very good, well worth a look. However, the picture quality is not good, too soft and unsharp; below the standards one should expect, even for a DVD as opposed to a HD version. That said, it's no worse in this respect than many other DVDs, but there are far too many DVDs on the market with poor visual quality. Is this a ploy to persuade people to move to BlueRay HD? Some films are not worth the extra expense of HD, but that's no excuse for poor DVD technical quality.

Caroline Quentin
This is an absolute brilliant dvd & well worth buying. We did see some of this on tv but sat & watched the dvd in total silence - you could hear a pin drop we were so captured. An excellent purchase & worth every penny & more. Hope she does another "Passage".

wonderful show - wrong DVD region!
I have seen this show on PBS and loved it...Sadly, when I purchased it for a Christmas gift, I was unaware that the DVD "region" in the UK was not compatible with the DVD "region" in the US, so we were unable to watch our new DVD. Merry Christmas!

A refreshing, energetic jaunt!
We really enjoyed this. Caroline Quentin's fresh view, her enthusiasm for joining in, and her obvious enjoyment of all she saw and experienced made this a very enjoyable jaunt through India. She asks questions, explores, and gives us a slightly different angle than other travelogues I've seen.

Excellent
There are lots of India travel vlogs online which are great but these films by Caroline Quentin take the learning to a higher level.

Why no Blu-ray release?
I enjoyed this 3 part series and for that I give it 4 stars. However I'm disappointed that there's no Blu-ray release. I watched this on ITV HD and it looked great, especially the fantastic photography. India is a country full of not only amazing scenery but also full of colour, which looks even more vibrant in HD. I think I'll keep my Sky+ HD recordings thanks, even with the annoying adverts.
