Q: How long is the shelf life?

not certain, but i recently used one i have had at least 5 years. after use if there is fuel remaining, you must seal the wick (i just use a baggie) or the fuel evaporates

Q: Are the plastic containers safe? I just received mine today and noticed after an hour of use the top is hot and plastic is very very warm
