Easwaran - The Upanishads - always a great read
It seems a long time since Hinduism was part of my course at university and now I have the time to go back and read some of the splendid books I studied back then I was happy to buy this version of The Upanishads.Easwaran is a noted scholar and translator and I do like his extended introduction - it felt like being back in lectures when my brain was more alive. This is only a fragment of the entire Upanishads, Easwaran has made selections based upon what they feel to be important. Each Upanishad also has a short explanation which can be a real help. The quality of this print book is exceptional, there is nothing cheap at all with the print, the quality of the pages, and the quality of the covers. A great purchase that I have really enjoyed reading and will be returning to it again.

High quality content and print
A great introduction to the Upanishads. The product and book itself is of high quality and the paper and print is also of high quality. I opted for the soft cover version, as it's easier to carry and read when in coffee shops or at home.I'm learning a lot from reading this book, and it provides a lot of food for thought. The author has easies you into the concepts and everyday I learn something new.Highly recommended.

Brilliant read.
I wish this book was part of the curriculum in modern education. It's simplicity in brilliance and power in knowledge is astounding. A must read for anyone in search for 'the meaning of life'. In a world where religion and politics are losing their way, we need to find our faith in spirituality, our unity in diversity, our respect of everything and everyone around us, and most importantly our selves in a broader more tolerant context of reality.

Enlightening
Having read the Bhagavad gita a few years back and enjoyed it whilst feeling enlightened I thought I would try the Upanishads too. I wasn't disappointed. The author's translation is once again easily readable. I read the book shortly after suffering a personal loss and was perhaps 'searching for something'. Whilst I wouldn't pretend to understand everything in the book I understood enough to provide myself with some more enlightenment and some self content too. By no means does it take away loss but it provides some semblance of what could, maybe happen to someone when they leave this earth, amongst other things.Well worth a read if you have the time, patience and focus.

Outstanding commentary and translation
Highly recommend this translator. Not just for the translation, but for the depth and insight in his commentaries, which are like another book in themselves. Will be buying all his translations for my collection.

Perfect.
Exquisite. If you are at all spiritually curious, you should have a copy of this book. 3000 year old wisdom that sings as brightly today as back then. Beautiful words, insights, understandings. It makes such a change to read a religious text like this. Their religious conclusions seem so much more rich, intelligent and subtle than those we've been spoon-fed in the West.

What a wonderful book and came in fantastic condition as well. Couldn't believe my luck when I saw this on Amazon, that too at such a reasonable price. Amazon is indeed the best! Well be buying a few more to give as gifts to my friends.

What a great take on a Classic
Eswaran's translations on several India Classics have alway been just wonderful. This one is no exception. Ever better, he as a very good writer to do the introductions on each chapter, and is very clear about exactly what the book is trying to say, and a writing style that takes some difficult reading and make's it easy to understand.I have nothing about great things to say about Eswaran's Upanishad translation. Every page is clear, and helps the reader to engage with what the various authors were trying to say. When you finish the book you have a good understanding of why it's a classic, want to read more on the various subjects presented, and feel good because of the beauty of the writing. Om, Shanti, Amen

Super summary
Upanishads are very hard to interfere and decipher. Eknath Easweran has made them very simple to read and absorb. It's quite brilliant to able to write such a summary. If anyone is interested in Upanishads (in english), start with this book and then progress to others with more detail. This book sets up a strong foundation

Knowing Thyself!
A very interesting book. It has all the Upanishads translated in English with each Upanishads explained concisely before it starts. Its a deep dive into knowing what the sages meant. I am engrossed in it and re reading to understand its meaning but as the sages say - how much ever you read, it does not come to you unless you work on it! Thank you for this book.

denso
Está muy interesante este libro, pero es una lectura que se va haciendo de a poco, ya que cada upanishad encierra mucha sabiduría anscentral.
