I get rather painful back spasms. I know baths as hot as you can stand them will stop the spasm and the pain, but one can't always run a bath, and more than one a day gives me skin problems (seriously) so this remedy is of limited use.Today I went out shopping, with my back already painful. By the time I returned home I was in agony and had been for some time. I put the heat pad on (on heat setting 3) and within 2-3 minutes the pain was reducing. Within 5-10 it was gone. It was heaven!However it has similiar problems to the bathing solution.., once the heat pad is no longer on, the spasm will return, sometimes quite quickly. The heat pad is not quite hot enough as well, even on setting three. I have to sit with my back pressed against a chair to make sure all the heat is conducted to my back. But even so, its not quite hot enough. Plus of course, when I most need it (moving around the house doing housework etc, anything involving mobility) you can't use the pad because it needs to be plugged in. The world has to come to a stop while you use the pad because it needs to be plugged in.That is obviously how its designed. Nothing you can do. It does what it says on the tin. But because of the design, it won't remove all the limitations back problems cause (painful mobility).However, none of the above remove the fact that the pad stopped the extreme pain I was in when I came home today. That makes it well worth buying.To update: I have found that an extra extending strap is included so the pad can be used for people of all shapes and sizes.I am a bit disappointed though to find the pad doesn't stay at the same temperature through the 90 minute period. It would be more effective if it stayed at the same temperature rather than spending half of the time at a cooler temp.

I bought this to ease my backache and it does a great job. It's a pity the lead isn't longer so I can move around while wearing it.

The Beruer heat pad is an excellent product. I have used it almost every day since I got it and it does wonders for my aches and pains. I suffer from fibromyalgia - and warmth always helps with this condition. I have used it around my waist for my lower back, round my neck and over my shoulders. The velcro pads at either end hold together well, so the pad stays put. There are 3 heat settings and I usually use settings 2 or 3. I will probably be more inclined to use setting 1 in the summer when it will be used over thinner clothing.Overall, a brilliant product and I would recommend it thoroughly to anyone who suffers from pain which is relieved by heat. Even if you haven't got pain, it is also nice just to wrap up cosy with it in the winter, as it is lovely and snuggly and relieves all those winter chills.

So before I write this review I will mention I got mine from the warehouse, however it was meant to be as new item and shouldn't have affected the quality, but I will state this just incase it does somehow make a difference.I bought this item because the reviews were majority great. I have severe fibromyalgia and suffer with chronic pain, and lug around a hot water bottle most of the Time and this seemed more convenient for when I would be in bed. Boy was I disappointed. The main disappointment is it hardly gets hot. If your looking for the heat of a hot water bottle then this is not for you. At setting 3, after half an hour waiting for it it to heat up, it was still luke warm at most and I realised, it wasn't getting hotter than that. This hardly helps, and I would much rather stick to a hot water bottle where at least I can get proper heat, its much to expensive for what it gives, to pay for something that's constantly plugged in to just give give a slight warm sensation.

I bought this when I realised my chronic back pain improved with a hot bath so before buying make sure your back improves with heat, if you can. The kind of pain I have is low grade but didn't go for months. I used this primarily early in the morning for about 15-20 mins before I get up and it certainly makes getting dressed easier. But it was also good if I had strained my back during the day. It is comfortable and adjustable (there is an extension strap up to at least a 40 inch waist if you are not as slim as you once were).Minor niggles:It doesn't get massively hot (three settings and I always use 3 which is warm bath but not super hot bath temp) and alot of heat seems to escape out of the back (not the side next to you skin) which I think the manufacturer could address.The power chord isn't that long so you will need a socket near you or an extension cable.Also - and most seriously - when switching up through level 1-3 rapidly once, my lights fused. I now switch through carefully with no further problems.I think anything that alleviates back pain is worth it, and with low muscular stiffness it does provide some relief. The niggles reduce this to a 3 which might be a bit harsh: I could be persuaded to a 4.I would also say that I have followed the work of Stuart McGill (Google his books - well woth it) and got my pain under control now but I still use this occassionally.

Omg! Heat-tastic! This heat pad is such a relief from the pain I have in my lumbar spine. I have herniated discs, facet joint disease & type 1 modic changes. The lead on it is really long and although I do use it with an extension lead in the garden (sitting only!) I can def do ironing (rock and roll) and my work as well as relax with this on. . The fact it switches off after a set period is great too.It has a really secure Velcro fastener which even come with an extender if needed. It’s a nice size and nicely covers my whole lower back. I’ve rolled as per the instructions too as a neck warmer due to a few sore muscles! And again it works brilliantly.It certainly is hot enough for me 100% and the 3 different heat settings again super helpful (especially if wearing over different clothing thicknesses.I wouldn’t hesitate to buy this if you’re looking. It’s helped and is helping me so much and I’ve had it around a month - 6 weeks. Frankly not sure how I lived with out it! Thanks Beurer
