If you read between all lines, the truth will be revealed...it's up to you to believe!!!
OMG! Job well done! Gene Deal: My World of Bodyguarding a Hip-Hop Star is one of the most heartfelt books I have ever read. His story telling places you in every adventure and journey of his work. From his up raising and in search of a mother's love to the love and dedication he contributed to becoming one of the best at securing "SOULS" His books answered a lot of my questions and also confirmed my belief to Why our talented entertainers are leaving this life too soon. Money, Power and the lack of respect for human life is my answer (just my opinion as a person who loves conspiracies).I am a subscriber to Gene Deal YouTube Channel. I enjoy his story telling, expressions, and humor. Ater listening to him reveals incidents, situations, and happenings in the hip-hop world, I just had to read his book. I am an early 60s baby and do not vibe with today hip-hop music (old school will always move me musically, physically, & emotionally). Gene Deal story telling get my award and he's placed with my other favorite authors, Mary Monroe, the late E. Lynn Harris, Sista Soulja and the producer of a mini-series and documentary; Steve Russell Harts of TROOP (check them out!) Can't wait for the next chapter!

Excellent read
I couldn't out the book down, I got an anxiety attack as the scene at the Peterson museum was described. An good story with a terrible ending. Glad I bought the book, but wish (on a human level) that the ending was different. The loss of a great talent and the discovery of a real life villain.

Written nicely and very fascinating
I really enjoyed the book and the way it was written. This book really draws you in and as Gene takes you from his childhood to his career, the stories that he shares are so interesting. It is like he allowed us to meet his family, spoke the reality of what college can really be like, and gave us a little insight of the music industry and the streets of New York. I found it fascinating and I am looking forward to his next book!

It’s a Gene Deal biography.
The media could not be loaded. I liked his time of events and his art of storytelling. Gene experienced a great deal of encounters with many famous and well known artists. This was a good weekend read, I’m looking forward to the next book. Bravo Gene Deal, bravo! 👏🏾

You Feel like You Were There
When reading his story, Gene has a knack for making you feel like you’re in the room with him. He takes you on his journey from juvenile delinquent to college basketball phenom, hardworking father, and successful businessman. You feel his highs, lows, and everything in between, while maintaining unwavering faith and a strong sense of self. In addition, his amusing literary anecdotes throughout the books help illustrate a situation or how he was feeling at the time.Gene used his street smarts and innate business acumen to live on his terms, while never compromising his morals and Midwestern values. After reading both books, I can say that Gene is the friend, mentor, and confidant I wish I had growing up.

Good read in spite of grammatical errors
The books lacks punctuations and has run on sentences; however, if you can get past that Gene tells a story that is relevant today. Given what's happening today with Diddy, this is a behind the curtains look at his life.

Boring trash book
This book is trash. He talked about P Diddy and Kim Porter a little bit in the beginning of the book but not really much. He putting on in a lot of his interviews like he really going to give us some new information. But he only regurgitating the same crap he says but he's very evasive. Making sure he doesn't say too much to get sued. The book is very boring. It did nothing for me at all and I'm going to return it to get my money back

This was a book I was so ready to read
After seeing Gene Deal on all the interviews, but especially with Storm Monroe, I knew I had to buy this book. While I expected a little more tea, it is set up for the second book of his life it looks like and I am perfectly fine with that. This book was beautifully written in a way that you really felt as is you went through his life with him. I grew a relationship with Gene through this book, especially as I grew up in the St. Louis area, and know most of the places he speaks of. I now live in Hillsboro where he went to college along his journey. It was exciting to see how someone so "normal" and beautifully created made his way into the glitz and glamor, while also keeping himself grounded and humble. He knew what was important through all of this. Eugene, if you read this review, it has been a pleasure to get to know you. My husband gave me this book for my birthday in April, knowing I was looking for an excuse to get it for myself. I was so excited. You really draw people in in your interviews and I'm shocked to say, I have been drawn in even more by reading your book. God Bless you and your family! May He always guide and protect you! I can't wait for the next book!Alicia
