Q: There's plastic on the inside of the lid. Is there any way to know what kind of plastic that is?

It does have plastic under the lid but even when it boils it never touches it. When you fill to the max line or below it does this and it's very cool!!!

It took approximately 8 minutes to a full rolling boil. A quarter of a pot (enough for two cups) takes between 3 and 4.

Q: Does it add any odor or taste to the water?

no. it is just pure water, no add odor or taste, really good one .

Q: Is the bottom of the kettle also glass or are only the sides glass?

The body of the kettle is glass but the bottom, which has to fit over the heating element, is metal. Just that portion below the line is still sitting when you pick up the kettle. I hope this answers your question.
