Very good quality product
I used to use Shaeffer pens when I was a kid in private school. We were not allowed to use ball-point pens, so fountain pens were the thing. I remember the cartridges, guys with blue or black stains in their shirt pockets, and ink stains on kids' fingers. My parents would get us Shaeffer pens, and I never remember having these issues. Same now. I insert the cartridge, make sure it's secure, and after the ink gets flowing, it's a smooth, even flow of ink. Never any issues. It absolutely pays to spend a few bucks more to get a good quality pen if you're serious about writing/calligraphy. This is that pen, and it's reasonably-priced as well. Extremely pleased with this product and would definitely purchase again.

Very gifty pens
Nice presentation. I love these pens for beginner calligraphy. This brand is one of my go to pen sets for creating labels, tags and letters to my peeps. I give them as gifts quite frequently. Smooth writing and easy to trouble shoot. Note: so far I have not been able to pull out nibs for cleaning so these are one of the more challanging pens to clean. The good news is they don't clog easily, and as long as you don't store with ink in them for long periods, no worries. Oh, and inks with gold in or walnut inks are a big noooo. Tust me on this. but still a great pen to carry around your work or school for ...
Not so smooth. I used to write with speed ball dipping nib. since i wanna try for fountain calligraphy pen. I realized this is not sustainable as it release many ink, but still a great pen to carry around your work or school for fun.

Great Calligraphy pen!
I'm getting back into calligraphy after 10 years. Sheaffer was my favorite brand back then. After researching Calligraphy pens (not Fountain pens) that didn't need to be dipped in ink, I settled on Sheaffer Viewpoint Calligraphy Fountain Pen with Medium Nib. While it looks like a child's pen, it works for my needs (writing cards, name plates, and keepsakes). The pen hasn't leaked so far (don't try to change the ink cartridge until it's empty). If you want to use a different color or nib size, I suggest you buy a second pen. I still keep the pen in a sandwich bag "just in case."I hold the nib at a 45 degree angle to the bottom line when I write. The pen itself needs to be at a 45 degree angle to the paper to flow smoothly. If I try to hold it more vertically like a ballpoint pen, the ink doesn't flow. Don't jam the nib into paper - that damages it. If you're having trouble getting the ink to flow, lower the angle of the pen to the paper.HOW TO INSTALL the ink cartridge:1. Lift cap from body of pen.2. Unscrew nib grip from the body of the pen.3. Drop loose cartridge into the body of the pen. (If you're using the blue cartridge the blue colored end should be toward the back of the pen. The clearer, more raised end should be towards the front.)4. Screw the nib grip onto the body of the pen. The metal tube on the nib grip will pierce the cartridge. After this, I do NOT recommend unscrewing the nib grip from the pen body until the ink is fully used/drained. The cartridge may get loosened on the nib grip, causing leaks.Store your pen flat or on the back end rather than on the cap end.

can't beat this quality
I'd seen a lot of calligraphy items by another maker, but couldn't find Shaeffer, which I had many years ago and really liked. After I tried, and mailed back, another set by another mfr., I found this Shaeffer set. At the first touch of the nib on paper, I remembered the hours of enjoyment I had 20 years ago, learning calligraphy on Shaeffer pens. From the first forms I tried with these, I knew I had made a good decision. So glad they still make these wonderful pens. The set is awesome, with lots of cartridges in several colors. I'm looking forward to reclaiming my calligraphy skills.

Not for beginning calligraphy!
I purchased these pens to take an attempt at calligraphy. Having something to keep occupied during quarantine is necessary right now. So why not pick up a new hobby.I received the pens and started practicing right away. The pens write great, if you just want a pretty cool pen. Although for what I needed them they spill out too much ink. You have to press down with a good amount of force for the ink to come out. Which is not ideal if you are trying to achieve the thin and think lines or swoops needed to master calligraphy.

Great set to meet fine, medium, broad tip needs.
Had a Calligraphy job to do and my pens were so old I decided to go with the ease of pens with cartridges as to the ink pens that you fill a bladder from the ink bottle. I like these as they are a wider barrel and easier to hold and control the pens. Nice set at a good price. The cartridges are a bit pricey though but it comes with quite a few but only 1 black one.

Does not work .... at all!
I have been using a Shaeffer calligraphy pen for over 50 years, but my pens have become old. I wanted to replace my pen with this. However, I was appalled that this pen was nowhere near the usual quality of the Shaeffer pens of the past. I could hardly get the ink to start flowing. And then when writing, the ink would come out in increments, thereby making strokes that were flawed and messy. I cannot believe this is a Shaeffer pen. I was going to return it, but at the very inexpensive price, I felt it wasn't worth my time and effort to expose myself to the pandemic while trying to mail it back to you.
