Loud and works, but maybe not quite what I wanted ?
First thing, this works exactly like it should. We lost power at 3:46 a.m. and I woke up because I heard the alarm from my garage in my second story bedroom.I put this on my garage freezer after a faulty GFCI caused me to lose all the contents of my freezer twice earlier this fall. The problem though, is that where I live power outages for a couple of hours are pretty normal. This was so loud that at 4:00 a.m. I had to go down and turn it off.I think in fact what I would rather have is a smart plug that would alert me via text if the power goes out, or something like that. So it does exactly what it's supposed to do, but think what happens out of your power goes out for 2 hours in the middle of the night. Is that when you want the alarm to go off?

Insanely loud
Inexpensive. Works. Crazy loud! I bought these so that my BiPAP machine (similar to CPAP) wouldn't suffocate me if the power failed. I was disappointed at first. I put a battery in and turned it on without plugging it in; it chirped and flashed once. That would never wake me! But it turns out that's just its way of saying hello. I plugged it in, turned it on, and then unplugged it, and I thought I had triggered the apocalypse. I probably woke up my neighbors -- and they are 1/4 mile away. I think it will be effective.

I have no energy
Pro: Cheap, easy to use, movable, loudCon: You don’t really know you need it until you need it.It’s rare but when the power goes out at night it is important for me to know to ensure the sump pump is doing what it should. This should do it. Reminder, it needs batteries. It’s plug and go but you need a AA battery in there.

Worked perfectly
We were stuck in the basement all night due to tornado warnings. We have a few beds down there for this reason. But if the power goes out when we are sleeping, the pump that keeps the basement from flooding shuts down. This thing woke us up and allowed us time to get the generator up and functioning so we could power the pump before any real flooding occured.

Basically Garbage
Do I have to give it 1 star? This item didn’t come with any English instructions and never worked at all. Basically garbage.

Great LOUD power failure alarm
Works great, tested device 4 times on install. The volume is loud and can be heard even with garage completely closed up.

LOUD
These worked for my freezer. It’s deafening loud so would be good for a basement or garage freezer. 3 stars as there is no volume control or alerts. If you aren’t home when power is lost someone may call the fire department as it’s sounds like that alarm and decibel level. I ultimately stopped using these and went with a temperature sensor with email and app alerts when set temps are exceeded.

Alarm on failure AND restore
I needed a different kind of power alarm. Often, I am not around when the power goes out but still need to reset some analog devices once power returns. Unless I physically inspected those devices every time I came in, I would miss situations where power had been out for a few hours and then returned. Most of the power outage alarms trigger only the power failing. That means it would be silent when I came in if the power had been restored already.THIS power failure alarm has separate power outage and power restored alarms that will sound until reset. That is awesome since the area I'm triggering on is in the basement.Warning: It is loud. Wear ear protection when you're messing around with it.
