I've ordered many products from SmartLab Toys and love each more than the last. This Tiny Art kit is so adorable and tiny, yet so functional. My son has created numerous "portraits" so far and has so much fun with it. It comes with a handy little guide that teaches you about different art techniques. The hamsters as guides are adorable. My only gripe is that the frame to put around the portraits are difficult to assemble, but this is still totally worth it! Great as a stocking stuffer.

This is a fun little set although I like some parts more than others:The watercolor pencils can be used directly on the supplied paper and water added after. They can also be used to create watercolor paint by drawing on pallet and mixing with water. This technique creates very little paint at a time (very small pallet paint wells) which is great for avoiding big messes but means you have to make multiple mixes of the same color paint. This is slightly annoying and makes it harder to get the color to be consistent.The painting paper is good quality, and it would be easy to cut more pieces from standard sheets of watercolor paper when the included pieces runs out. The watercolor pencils should last for a while.The stencils are good quality. One has generic shapes while the other is for making faces like those characters in the pamphlet. The pamphlet has basic instructions for use and example projects.The paperboard frames come disassembled and are difficult to fold into shape. I am not a fan of the frames.The mini easel is cute but is for display purposes and not for holding the paper while painting/drawing on it.

A pretty cool item for a kid that likes art!

My 8 year old kid loves art activities, and she is a big fan of this tiny art package. It contains an easel, paint brushes, cardboard frames, and various colors of paint. There is even a gold metallic paint that emulates borders of a fancy picture frame.She used her creativity to make various pieces of child art. Once the cardboard pieces are done, you can still use the paint with other paper surfaces. One item to keep in mind is that there is no storage container for all of the items. So we used a medium sized Ziploc bag to hold them.The instruction sheet is also well done, with plenty of colorful suggestions.

Looks super cute and I'm excited to gift it but I had to doctor up the package as it arrived damaged.

As an artist, former educator, and father of 2 grown women, I highly recommend Smart Lab’s Tiny Art set. This is literally a tiny art studio that’s filled with materials and tools for a plethora of creative watercolor possibilities. The set contains 8 watercolor pencils, a tube of watercolor metallic gold paint, a flat brush, a round brush, a pipette, 2 stencils, a mixing palette, 20 pieces of watercolor paper, 4 cardboard frames, and a miniature wooden easel. All the materials are of a very nice quality, so that budding artist can be assured to get good results and not be discouraged by using cheap materials and tools. The set also includes an illustrated fold out activity pamphlet that features project ideas, as well as art history and art science facts. As a child artist I know I would have LOVED receiving this set as a gift, and my daughters would have too. I can’t wait to have grandchildren to share it with them!
