We all know that sometimes someone thinks up a new twist to an old product. These are a new type of curved edge nail clipper that uses a unique Solingen Germany design (Made in China) to reduce cutting effort. These are really really sharp! Whilst fiddling with them I managed to subtly cut my thumb pad unintentionally! Used properly these will cut most finger and toe nails easily unless they have severe thickening from nail fungus (onychomycosis). I've seen "Ram's Horn" nails almost 1/2" thick & 1" plus long when I was doing healthcare. These won't tackle those which need a podiatrist to treat.The nail file uses a very fine metal mesh embedded on the surface of a glass file. Different & effective - safe too! TIP: Remember to always leave the corners of your toenails extending beyond the nail bed edge to help prevent ingrown nails. STORAGE BOX: These arrive in a cardboard tube. The tube is thick enough to be used for storage.SHARPNESS: While I don't have overly thick nails this nail clipper cut through my thickest toe nails with ease.BLADE WIDTH: The blade width is fine for smaller toes but too narrow for the big toenail. The blade is too sharply curved to make multiple snips on the big toenail. It works for the 4 smaller toes but tries to cut in too deep on the big toe.TWIST OR NOT: This has a hinge rather than a rivet. You don't twist and flip the lever on these. You just flip the lever. If the lever would stay in that position it would work better but the lever tends to flip back when you're trying to use them.GLASS FILE: I had my doubts about the glass file but it works great. And it's easy to clean. I wiped it with a damp cloth and it was like new again.OVERALL: These are not my favorite. I admit to being picky about my nail clippers. I have 6 kids, 6 cats, 4 dogs and a bird that I use them on, so I need them to work when I want them to. I've found that Seki brand clippers are a dream to use and last, but they are expensive. The cheap clippers (Revlon etc) tend to dull in 6 months so rebuying makes them actually not cheaper. I picked up a single shaped Mr Green clipper over a year ago and it is still going strong, so I didn't feel like this would be much of a risk, even with the different design.This clipper and file arrived in a brown tube with a cutout foam to keep it secure and safe. The clipperscut cleanly and easily. They work on my toes and fingers, as well as all of the above named children and critters. They are easy to hold and ergonomic. The bar that flips down gives them a spring padding that makes them less jarring -- an easy squeeze that is hard to describe. The cut is easy and clean. The body of the clipper is matte silver and the hole in the arm makes it secure when you use it, no worries about it slipping. There is a magnet on the underside of one arm that will catch the spring. In theory that is supposed to hold them closed but in reality they will still fall open if you travel with them.I am not a huge fan of the glass file . . . but I don't like them in general. It is small and has rounded edges, with a very fine grit. Really more of a polisher than a file.

I've used several clippers/files in recent years. But I was looking for something better, and decided to try this set from Mr. Green. I really like both the clippers and the file this company developed.The set is delivered in a sturdy cardboard cylinder "box" with inserts that hold the clippers and file in place. I actually use the cylinder to store the clippers and file between uses.The clippers are super sharp, and cut smoother than any I've used in the past. They allow me to have good visibility of what I'm clipping, because of the way the blades are shaped. The handles spring back nicely. Very comfortable and effective to use.The glass file is a great length, making it easy to hold and maneuver. And it's wider than other glass files I've used before. It has metal meshed with the glass to give it more filing power. Although it might not be quite as aggressively as classic "sandpaper" files, it is smoother, and should never wear out. Note that the file leaves a shiny, polished look on your nails. I like this look, but it may not be for everyone. The shine only last for a couple of hours, at least in my case.This is a great set. Mr. Green put some effort into design and function here, from the packaging to the actual clippers and file. I highly recommend this.

I never thought clippers and files were something to get impressed over, but I take it back.These are super modern, very sharp and sleek looking, and packaged awesome like a cool gift and it’s fun to open it- like a whole experience. It would even make for nice storage if you are somebody who wants to keep them in this between uses.I didn’t realize how dull my cheap old ones had gotten until I tried these sharp new ones.The nail file is also a sleek clear glass piece with a file on one side of it that you can barely see. It still works just as good as a regular file- just a fine grained one, which is nice.I especially like that it’s quick and easy to use so if I’m trimming my little boys up I can get it done quickly when I have that window to do so.Everything seems super well made, top notch presentable, and functions better than expected.The only downside I see is that compared to a standard pointy metal nail file this set doesn’t have anything to scrape under and clean the nails out with. I’m ok with that as these seem very TSA friendly not being pointy and the file part still works just as good as all metal versions if not better.I think it would make a great gift item as a stocking stuffer or as part of a gift basket with spa type theme for men or women.Overall I’d highly recommend them.
