I have an 8 year old diabetic lab. He has been diabetic for about 3 years. I started feeding him Dr. Harvey's dehydrated Paradigm food, rehydrating it with homemade bone broth and adding the 1lb of protein per day recommended. I bought this to supplement the Paradigm and he just loves this food!!! Being a lab, he is not pick and he tends to gobble any food-- BUT he smells this food (it does NOT smell good- actually smells awful but it dried Salmon!!!) and he can hardly wait for me to put the bowl down! I will have another Libre diabetic glucose device applied to him so I can monitor his glucose with this food addition, but I suspect it will be about the same as it is 95 percent protein. I will not stray from Dr. Harvey's food with the bone broth as I think all the vitamins and minerals are what keep his skin and coat so healthy. I just needed something to add to the flavor and also to add to make up for the 1 pound of protein he requires daily. Shopping for meat to feed him is so costly with inflation. I know this food is expensive, and maybe not any more cost effective, but it is cutting down on the constant grocery shopping for meat. AND he LOVES IT! FYI.. my picky GoldenDoodle tried it... she is not anymore keen on this food than any other. She will eat it ... but only when she gets good and ready!

Great quality. Smells kind of strong, but my dog loves it. Would like more fat for the Keto diet for my dog, but I just add it to this.

First of all, this product is not keto, it is low carb. Keto is when the fat content is higher than protein content with very low carbohydrate content. The guaranteed analysis lists the protein at 46% and fat is at 16%, this is almost three times the amount of fat in the product. For a product to be keto, the percentages should be reversed, meaning the fat should be at 46% and protein at 16%, where fat is usually at a 2-3:1 ratio to protein.There are other reviews on here that go into the ingredients that they use and why using salmon meal and peas are a cheap way to stuff more protein instead of using real whole meat.I bought this product knowing it was not keto and had high protein. What I didn't know was how sick it would make my dog. I wont go into details about that, but he is doing better now.On the manufacture's website, they have a 30 day money-back guarantee. However, when I emailed them to get my money back, they refused stating: "Unfortunately, since Amazon is a different platform, our money-back guarantee on your first order offer is only good through our website." While this true, they are the seller on Amazon, which means they have total control over this. Fortunately, when I contacted Amazon, they refunded me immediately.My take from this whole experience is this an untrustworthy company who lies to unaware consumers who don't understand what keto is or how it works and will not honor their policy regarding refunds.

I just started feeding my dog Ketona Salmon (thank goodness for the Salmon as he has fowl allergies). I found out about Ketona from doing Google research after my dog was found to be pre-diabetic. My vet told me to try to get about 10-12 lbs off of him (the treat train has slowed at my house). I also wanted to find the best food to give him to try to nip this in the bud before it turned into full diabetes. Unfortunately, because of the treatment of his original owner he is very fear aggressive and even though he is the sweetest and friendliest dog I've ever had, when you start to "mess" with him he will go after you. Thus, he has to be put completely out for his vet visits. So, giving him insulin shots would be impossible. I'm hoping that this food -- I feed him the Ketona with a sprinkle of Metamusil; some chopped green beans and a tbls of wet salmon food -- will help him with his weight and his blood sugar. So far he woofs it all down so -- yay. Here's hoping when I take him to the vet in 3 days for a blood test that his sugar levels are normal. I will still feed him this food as he likes it and it's an excellent dog food. Highly recommend.
