Must have for fabric crafters
Originally, I used it for fixing red fabrics prior to cutting quilt pieces. Now, I use it for fixing yarn colors. The ones that are acrylic, available in any big box store, don't need retayne. I bought a skein from a yarn shop, and the green dye was rubbing off onto my fingers while knitting. When completed, I washed my project in eucalon and retayne. I rinsed as well, until the water seemed clear. For knitting with high quality, natural fibers, this worked fine. No damage to fabric and minimal residual dye. I recommend rolling knit projects in a dark towel if likely to bleed. If dye shows in towel, keep it wet and wash immediately with bleach solution in the water. Better yet, always make a swatch to figure these matters our prior to knitting. In any case, I'm happy to have retayne on hand and always do.

Stops material from bleeding
Worked well. Easy to use. Can use in washer or in a container. I had a small cross stitch picture. I had changed lighter thread to darker, and was afraid that they would bleed over. Recieved package early, thank you. Followed directions, easy to use. No bleed. All starched, and ironed, ready to frame.

Must have for quilting and blue jeans!
I recently had a near quilting disaster. I was in a hurry to make a baby quilt and didn't prewash the cotton material. The top was sky blue and white and I backed it with a beautiful maroon print. About half way through the quilting process, I noticed my fingers were a little red. I hoped it was hard work and not bleeding material but after soaking a scrap in a little soapy water, I couldn't deny that the red material was bleeding. I didn't have time to remake the quilt and I certainly didn't want the white on the top to turn pink since it was for a little boy. I searched solutions on the internet and decided to give Retayne a try. I ordered here on Amazon and was able to finish the quilting and binding by the time it arrived. I estimated the amount of material and put the proper amount of Retayne in a warm water wash with the finished quilt and said a few prayers. When all was said and done, the quilt came out of the dryer with no pink. The maroon backing was a bit faded, but I attribute that to the material being over dyed. I will never be without Retayne again and I will prewash all my quilting material with it.I've also used this product on jeans. The blues and blacks seem to stay that way on the jean I've washed with Retayne when they were new. Others seem to fade a bit with each wash. I also used it on some shirts I bought online. Previous shirts from the same company, in different prints, faded badly the first time I washed them. The two new ones I bought in May are still bright after about a dozen washings. I simply washed them in warm water and Retayne when they first arrived and the color seems to be set. I highly recommend this product to other quilters in my area. The only drawback is that we can't find it locally.

Great Product, terrible price!
The product is a gem, works well for holding color into the fabric. I was surprised by the tiny size when it arrived, 4 ounces, somehow it did not register when I pressed the buy button, since I normally pay this for the 16 oz. size locally. It also was leaking when I opened it. So I received even less. Sometimes it pays to drive to the store.

worked grewat
I used this as directed on very bold colors for a quilt. There was no bleed after using this product. I will be using it on all my quilt fabrics going forward

Worked great with batiks
I used this to treat batik fabrics before using them in a quilt with non-batik prints. Following the instructions with small batches of similar colors and by hand (metal bowl, not washing machine), the excess dye rinsed out. After laundering and drying the treated fabric, no more color transferred either in water or when testing on white fabric. Excellent results.

Lifesaver for a quilt with dye that wasn't set
Used this on a cotton panel after spritzing it with water (while ironing, just to get out the wrinkles) and discovered the dye -- black, red and dark brown -- were not set at all. After treating with Retayne, the dye not only set but never ran or leached anywhere and there was never any need to use color catchers or Synthrapol to get out bleeding dye spots. Perfect! Did exactly what I bought it for. I only wish it came in bigger sizes (more of it).
