Great engine, amazing price.
Runs great, breaking in the engine is tedious, but the engine is very very tight before break in. Heating it with a heat gun or head warmer helps with this. Though a heat gun works better when you heat the engine to 200 degrees F.Get an OS TM header and use the exhaust gasket it comes with. The little red o rong and clip for the original ring it comes with doesn’t work properly and causes an exhaust lead. There won’t be enough back pressure to bring enough fuel to the carburetor and this can damage the engine. So get an OS header. That’s really important.Other than that? It’s an amazing engine. Tons of torque and has a higher top end than the 3.3.It is also a better designed engine. It also two bronze bushings in the connecting rod and the connecting rod is much stronger than the 3.3. The crank shaft is lighter than the 3.3 crank, which explains the better top end power. Also it has an aluminum carburetor. (Less chances of stripping idle screws and needle threads).Overall it’s a superior engine to the 3.3If you know how to tune an engine, you’ll be very satisfied with the performance of it.The engine is the updated version with a backplate that doesn’t wear out so quickly, and has better bearings compared to the ones that came out when first released. I know this due to the two dots marked on the backplate.

Best power for your buck with this engine...BUY IT!!!!!
Well I've had this engine on my Revo for about a month or so now and I have already ran about 2 full gallons through it and it's holding up quite well. It definitely has more power than a STOCK 3.3. But I have a T-Maxx 3.3 that I installed a Big Block Carburetor on and a CVEC pipe and the Tmaxx is JUST BARELY faster in a straight line and out of turns. I'm using the stock clutch bell and spur gears on both the Revo with this engine and the T-Maxx with the Modified 3.3.I do have a Buku pipe on the Revo. So the power is also influenced by that pipe I'm sure but I'm happy with the engine. For a little over 100 bucks compared to almost 300 for an O.S. 21TM. This little dynamite just might find it's way on a couple of my 4-Tecs and maybe even an RS4. Don't get me wrong the O.S. engine is FAR superior to this engine but since all of the race circuits in my area no longer allow nitro. I'm back to just bashing and this engine is great for that. As well as the occasional park race between friends. The break in procedure went smoothly after realizing that it was set FAR TOO rich from the factory. I had to lean it out almost a full turn to get it to start and idle correctly. And even with that it still completely SOAKED the rear of my revo during break in with oil and even after performance tuning still saturates the revo with oil. The break in procedure is almost identical to Traxxas's recommended procedure for the 2.5 and 3.3. So since I have that procedure memorized...I just used that. And have had no issues with the engine since break in. The more it gets used and broken in the easier it is to start and tune. Once broken in and tuned correctly this engine will idle all day and then go when you punch it. No hesitation, no bogging or stalling. Just power and fun!!!Don't worry about the two 1 star reviews in any way shape or form. They just aren't familiar with big block style exhaust systems. Personally I'm glad they didn't reuse the bolt on exhaust header from Traxxas. It's more of a pain than its worth in my opinion. It DOES reuse the stock header from your 2.5 or 3.3 powered Traxxas vehicle but instead of using bolts it has an adapter plate so you can run a spring around the front of the block to hold the header on. Mine has NOT leaked once in almost 2 gallons of run time. And I beat the Pi** out of this thing every time I run it.

Easy to tune
The engine fit right in my Tmaxx 3.3 and fit the ez start system. It was very easy to break in and after some quick tuning rips the entire tank on 30% with no hiccups. The Dynamite .19 has way better low end torque than the 3.3 and runs cooler.

Starter binding
Ok so I’ll start off with the good!It runs great and tunes easily, has a metal body carb and it runs alittle cooler than a traxxas 3.3.The bad is that the starter bearing binds up against the backplate, (you can see where it’s wearing on the plate in picture) you have to have the ez-start screws so loose that it moves around. What’s nuts is that this is the updated backplate that’s supposed to help this issue.Anyways you can shim the bearing more than the one you normally use but you may not be hitting the backplate anymore it’ll just bind up against the plastic cage that the bearing sits in on the ez-start, my backplate is being chewed up from the bearing and I really think this is a big problem, otherwise the engine is ok.Forget about using the traxxas pull start cause it’s worse on it.So now that that’s out of the way I’ll talk about the performance. It runs good and tunes easily, runs alittle cooler and doesn’t make as much power as the traxxas 3.3.If you have a 3.3 and want an engine that tunes better and makes alittle more power without spending an arm and a leg then just buy a O.S. 11k carb for your 3.3It’ll runs awesome and tune very easily and you’ll even make more power.I would stay away from the dynamite engine unless you want to try and figure something out or machine material off of the backplate.

Good replacement for the Revo 3.3 engine
First engine I got would not stay running.Followed most everyone's advice, pre-heat it etc still wouldn't run.Sent back and replaced under warranty by Horizon Hobby.Second engine fired right up although very rich it wanted to stay running.Adjusted hsn/lsn, idled for 5 tanks to break it in.Over 2 gallons later still runs great, rarely needs adjustment and even then only needs very small tweaks.Mine does not have the low end that the 3.3 did but mid range and above are good.I put smaller wheels on my Revo and now this thing rips. got all my low end back and then some.Motor runs around 230ish temp and loves it.Would definitely buy again as my first 3.3 blew up two main bearings in about 1 gallon.
