Nice Addition To Cync Line
Several years ago, I asked GE/Cync if I could use one of their switches to control an overhead fan. Their reply was no. So it is nice to see that they have finally released a product which can control an overhead fan. The fan that I added this to is in my bedroom. So now, from my bed, I can use voice commands to turn the fan on or off, as well as increasing or decreasing the fan speed.Installation was fairly easy. Note that this switch DOES require a neutral wire. In a previous (older) house, my switches did not have a neutral wire in the box as most switches did not need it. Cync did come out with a light switch which didn't require a neutral wire. Luckily, my current house was wired more recently and does include a neutral wire. Check yours before purchasing this device. One "feature" I had to work around was the the switch will turn on or off ALL Cync devices in the room (I have Cync lights in the room). I did not want this feature. I wanted the switch just to control the fan. Before installing this, I had installed a separate switch for the lights on the fan, and I wanted them to work independently. There were 2 possible fixes: put the fan switch in a different "room" in the Google Assistant app, or add a new "group" in the app. I choice a new group, so now I have a fan group with one item in it, and that switch controls that fan group. After this additional setup step (with assistance from Google customer service), all works as I want.

Amazon Sync Needs Work
The switch works well & I really like the ability to control my ceiling fan speed, but I continually have issues with it dropping connection with my Amazon devices.

Good looking and works!
My family room has a ceiling fan with pull stings up in 12 feet height. LOL. Obviously nobody can pull the strings without a ladder. So essentially there is no control of the fan speed.Quality: The switch seems to be very well built.Installation: straight forward like other smart switches.App: this is the only device I have for the Cync app, I linked it with Google Home which is my major app for everything home automation. App is not bad. It has control to turn off the ring LED as opposed by some other reviews. The Google Home control is fine with some quirk (the speed shows 0% after you adjust it by sliding and you have to exit and reopen the app to see its correct speed again)Controls: 4 speed control is nice. My fan was shaking and noisy a bit before since it was stuck with max speed. Now I set it to speed 1 or 2, super quiet. All in all recommended!

Works great. Love the voice control.
Once installed it worked great, but took me a couple of tries to get it right. Two things I learned was first to try it out with the switch still hanging out to make sure connections are good. Second, there is a little switch that you can pull out to keep it off when you go to turn the breaker back on. This way you don't have to worry about anything going wrong while you're out in the garage or in the basement etc. When you get back to where you are installing the switch you push it back in and see if it's blinking. If not you can pull it right back out and not worry about it being powered up with something wrong. Once everything is good then you can turn the breaker off once more and pack the wires into the Junction box. If it doesn't work after that then you know that you probably knocked a wire loose and can fix it. It's a tight fit as other reviewers have noted. I'm not real experienced with house wiring, but I went slow and took all the safety precautions noted and was successful. Now I love that I can use alexa to turn the fan on and off or even change speeds. There's also an app for phone control, but I find I mainly use the voice control. I don't have to get out of bed if it gets too hot or cold anymore!!

BUYER BEWARE! Lasted less than 2 months and support is terrible!
This switch worked fine for about a month, then one day it randomly disconnected from the wireless network (indicated by a red ring on the device)... then just as randomly it managed to re-connect a few hours later. Now, less than 2 months after the install, the switch has completely lost the ability to connect to WiFi.I tried connecting the unit to 3 different routers to be absolutely certain that the issue was with the switch. I tried power-cycling and then I tried a factory reset. Now, the device can't be added back to my account to even be controlled by Bluetooth because it won't finish the setup as it cannot connect to WiFi!Since I'm outside the return period I have to deal with GE. I tell them everything I've done so far and the guy is not satisfied - I have to do all of this AGAIN with him so he can be CERTAIN that I actually performed these steps (power-cycle the switch and router, factory reset, blah blah blah). So, to humor him, I did these steps... the support agent has the balls to say he doesn't believe that I power-cycled my router because "most routers take at least 2 minutes to power-cycle."Finally, he states that "if you insist you've done all of these steps, next I will need you to send pictures of the wiring for this switch." So, even though I've stated that this device has been working (which would indicate that it was wired correctly), they will refuse to accept their device is defective until they get you to jump through every proverbial hoop they can come up with... so for this crappy device that lasted less than 2 months, I now have to cut power to half of the upstairs to my house to pull out the switch and send them a picture of how it's wired...I have "smart" devices from many other manufacturers and I've had to go through RMA processes for a few of them, and this is the most ridiculous experience I have had. I would recommend staying away from GE.
