This clip can open wide enough to hold my thick, curly hair even if it has dried. If I twist and fold it into a french twist it will still hold. The material is thicker, less brittle, and has a stronger spring than many I've tried. Bonus: the silicone liner helps grip hair and stop slippage so your updo will stay up.

But for someone like me who has thick straight hair and likes to go through goody or other branded hair clips just because their hair is super thick. It's a good size clip and can't find in stores and if you do it was cheaply made. This one tops all other clips I have ever used. Holds hair really good. Best for price as well.

I will say this clip is wayyyy better than any scunci or any other brand I've found thus far. I use this clip pretty much every day. I use it to put up my hair to wash my face every night, and I wear it during the day as well on most days. My hair is super thick and heavy and this is the ONLY clamp I've ever found that's strong enough (and clamps tight enough) to hold It....I love it! I'm not sure how long they should last but I bought my last one 18 mos ago. This one did break, because the spring rusted. However, it gets wet a lot, so I think I'd call 18 months normal wear and tear. Also, this clip is NOT painted as a previous reviewer said. I think people sometimes write reviews about the wrong products!

I love these clips.They open wide enough that I use them for an odd purpose.These are the perfect size for protecting my fingers from burns when I dry and style my hair; I attached these to the upper neck of my REVLON One Step Hair Dryer and Stylers (see photo).No other ponytail clips opened wood enough and went the whole way around. I used two on each hair dryer just so that my hands do not slide over the clips (where the hot steam is likely to burn you).

May update: the metal hinge broke after 2 months, but this was with nearly nonstop use. I will most likely be purchasing again.March: This is bigger than I thought it would be (and I was going for pretty big because my hair is thick, course, and long) but I like it so far. I was looking to replace an old one that lasted forever and was a bit disappointed that this one didn't have a rubber-band/hair-tie reinforcement in the hinge. Also, its a bit flimsy so if you are rough on clips I don't think I would go for this one.

I have long thick straight hair, and finding a clip that would hold all my hair and stay in place isn’t easy. This opens wide for fit around elastics or twisted/knotted hair, it has extra little teeth inside to hold it in place, and so far the spring mechanism has been very durable. I can put my hair up in the morning, and it doesn’t slip all day. Definitely worth $6 to me.

I have used this size clip for years to use with my large electric curlers and haven't been able to find themto replace some broken ones. -- -- these were higher in price but so worth the extra money. They are muchstronger and sturdier than the clips that I have been using. I'm sure these will last a lot longer! Thanks! So gladthey're still making this size in sturdier version.

Do not like the price. Works great for my hair. Holds tight all day. Wish there was other colors.
