I have found Berkey to be an excellent filter, everything I have put through it has ...
I purchased the Crown Berkey last year, and since then 90% of what I have drank has gone through a Berkey filter. I have found Berkey to be an excellent filter, everything I haveput through it has come out tasting excellent. This includes sketchy well water that may or may not have gone through a reverse osmosis filter. This summer I have done a lot more traveling, and needed a way to get filtered water on the road without carrying around gallons and gallons of pre-filtered water. Enter the Go Berkey. I considered the Travel Berkey, but wanted something a little more compact in case I had to get on an airplane. The Go Berkey comes with the upper chamber, the filter and everything needed to attach it, and the lower chamber. It also comes with a water bottle with a filter in it, and the Berkey Primer (which Berkey now includes with all Go Berkey kits as of the beginning of 2017 according to their website). Finally, in order to hold it all together it comes with a very nice padded carrying case. The filter assembly assembles just like any other Berkey filter system (first picture). The filter goes in the top chamber (second picture), and sticks through a hole into the bottom chamber. Water is poured in the top and slowly drains through the filter to the bottom chamber. The capacity is not much, but I think it is an acceptable trade off for the portability. For travel, you can flip the top chamber over and store it inside the bottom. There is no need to remove the filter (third picture). The cap also fits on the bottom of the bottom chamber, leading to a very nice, compact little package. This all goes inside the bag, which has enough capacity for the filter assembly as well as the water bottle and the primer.Three bag is quite roomy, there is no need to cram everything in (fourth picture). It also is sturdy enough to stand up on its own (fifth picture). I could have done without a pocket for the water bottle to save a little room overall, but that is just a design choice, off they didn't include it somebody would complain that there wasn't a pocket for it. I have confidence that, if packed carefully, it will be protected while traveling. The priming tool is a very nice inclusion (sixth picture). If you use Berkey filters in any way you should have one. It really works a lot better then the standard way Berkey suggests that you prime your filters. It is a two way primer, so you can both prime and purge filters (you probably want to purge them before traveling or long term storage to avoid mold buildup, although I have no idea if this nasty reduce filter lifespan). I found the easiest way to prime the filters was to install it in the top chamber like you are going to use it, but to prime it from below to start the water flow. The included water bottle is not really that great, I have seen countless ones just like it in outdoor stores. It is not my preferred type of filter, it requires you to suck water through the filter, which is a lot more work then you might think. Ultimately it is a wash for me, I don't really care that they included it, I ultimately bought the kit for the Berkey. Maybe I will eventually find a use for it, probably just as a backup backup filter in my truck for emergencies.I am quite pleased with the Go Berkey, I feel like I got my money worth (sort of, Berkeys are quite spendy, they all seem about 1/3 more expensive then they should be). If you are looking to get into Berkey, this would be a great way to try them out, and could serve as a main drinking water filter if you are patient (at least until you break down and but a bigger one).

A wonderful and superior product
I have had my portable "Go" Berkey for several months now and take it with me everywhere I travel. Hotels in the US, friends houses, foreign destinations - everywhere! In fact, I like it so much, that I then purchased the "Big Berkey" that holds 2.25 gallons. I was so impressed with this, that I then purchased the Colossal "Crown" Berkey that holds 6.5 gallons! My 6 member family is happy with all three and they are an indispensable part of our lives. We emphasize copious water consumption and these the most logical, efficient and cost effective means of accomplishing this.We have missionary friends in primitive areas of India and Africa who have also found the Berkey system to play a critical role in their lives. Everyone is happy with its performance.Regarding those who say it "leaks", I can authoritatively say that the spigot only leaks for those who don't know how to "screw a lid on tight" or don't know how to properly connect a hose onto a faucet. The only "leak" issue that potential purchasers will need to be prepared for, is that it can be overfilled, causing the water to leak out between the upper and lower chambers.Obviously, if the upper chamber is overfilled, it will cause the lower chamber to overfill, resulting in a overflow between the two. This is only a problem for those who are unprepared.Screw on the spigot well and don't overfill, and you won't have any problems. This is truly a professional product, that is NOT just a water filter - it is a very sophisticated water purifier. It does what it is supposed to do and does it very, very well. It is exceptionally well built and performs flawlessly.Don't be misled by those who are misinformed and don't know the basic fundamentals of how to screw on a faucet. I now own three of them and have no regrets. It's operation is simple. It's performance is stellar. It's quality is unrivaled. And the end product is truly life saving!Buy it with confidence. Use it with unbridled trust. Foreign workers all over the world depend on it and you can too!

This little guy saved the day ... and week ... and maybe our lives!
I purchased this Berkey travel kit 5 years ago. Put it with my emergency supplies, and forgot it. Until the bladder broke in my RO system storage tank. Oh no! Now I'm going to have to drink the disgusting, horrible tasting, polluted water that comes out of my municipal water tap until I can get the RO tank ordered, received, and installed. Then I remembered the Berkey travel kit that had been sitting on a shelf these past 5 years.Filled the "Sport Berkey" plastic water bottle with the muck that comes out of my faucets, took a draw on the pop-up plastic straw, and tasted pure, clean, wonderful water.Ok great! Now I had immediate relief for my parched, raspy throat, but needed more for other uses (like making coffee), too. So set up the beautiful, stainless steel mini gravity filter system and filled it with city water from the faucet. It took a while (about and hour) for the filter to prime, but eventually a drip started, and tasty, clean water began dripping into the stainless collection cup. I filled a half gallon pitcher of the filtered water for storage, and have been able to make enough clean water to keep the pitcher topped off. So now we have plenty of good water for myself, and my wife while we await the delivery and installation of the new RO tank.A true life saver, and am now thinking about tossing the RO system, and getting a big Berkey. However, whatever I do, I am very confident that the Berkey travel system will keep our drinking water clean and safe under any circumstance.
