Q: Is it possible to use 1mm wire with this tool?

No only 0.014-0.031 this tool is very small but works awesome with the size wire recommended

Q: Does anyone know the size of the finished loop in mm?

You can make the loop any size you want, however I would expect normally the sizes would be in the range of 1.5mm to 4mm
