Big hit!
I love these cutter/stampers!Mine came with a recipe booklet. The recipes look pretty standard, but I elected to use the one posted by another reviewer because it was a shortbread style cookie (no leavening) and I thought it would do a better job of preserving the stamped lines in the dough than the baking-powder leavened recipes in the booklet.Tips:Follow instructions provided in the booklet! If yours is missing:Roll the dough between sheets of parchment paper.Chill the dough before stamping & cutting.Dip cutter/stamp in flour each time you use it.Stamp first, then cut out to avoid distorting the shape of the cookie. The lines will fade when you bake them, so make sure you stamp them deeply. These look so nice you wouldn't have to ice or sugar them at all.If you want to be precise about icing, you'll need a collection of small icing tips.I was most successful with #01 tips.I used Royal Icing which looks good and dries hard but (in my opinion) tastes awful. That didn't seem to stop anyone, though! My colors were pastel because I don't like the bitter flavor that food coloring imparts. Next year I might try using natural dyes--beet root powder, hibiscus flower, etc. I might also try a different icing to see if I can strike a balance between durability and flavor.

Cute, easy, bonus recipes included!
These were so fun to use!! Definitely have to make sure you don’t roll out your dough too thin to avoid the stamp breaking through and ruining the cookie. Use enough flour/powdered sugar between each use to avoid dough sticking to the stamper. But otherwise, they worked great and cleanup was easy! These also came with 3 cookie dough recipes which was really helpful and tasted great! Had to go online to find a royal icing recipe but other than that, the sugar cookie recipe was a very cool plus to find in the package.

A spooky delight!
These cookie cutters are really, really gorgeous. They are a stamp on one side and a cutter on the other side, and both work quite well in their four different designs this set includes. They also give you a little recipe book for a cookie dough, though you can use your own as long as it keeps the shape after you bake it. They advise to stamp it when it's soft and refrigerate it a little before cutting it, as to maximize the efficiency of both ends of the piece. I found this tip to work best after trying to both stamp and cut on room temperature and refrigerated dough. They come out of the oven perfectly crisp and delicious with the stamps intact (as long as you pressed the mold hard enough on the dough before baking). The tricky part comes when you want to frost it. Make sure you use really liquid royal icing to fill in the wells, otherwise you'll have a rather amateur looking cookie. Give yourself enough time for icing them and you shall have a lot of fun doing it. They might come out so pretty you won't want to eat them

spooky gingerbread jack o's
A little tricky to work with but am pleased, nonetheless. Made gingerbread cookie recipe exactly as it appeared in instructions and they taste delicious...good texture too. It' REALLY important to dip shapers and cutter in flour with every cookie and use cold dough. I couldn't find "royal frosting" as suggested, so when the cookies were cool, I spooned powdered suger onto facial features and then brushed off with my finger. The result as you can see in the photo is spooky jack o lantern gingerbreads! The little one on the counter is a piece of raisin bread which turned out with the shaper/cutter. I'm going to try imprinting bread and then toasting it too. The faces are delightful and I thought easy to clean.

Cookie cutters with multiple uses
The 4 smiling skull faces are each unique. These cookie cutters are a perfect size for sugar cookies to celebrate the Mexican traditional Day of the Dead. Another use is as stamps in pottery-making. Casserole dishes that I throw in clay are embossed inside the lid and again on the inside bottom of the dish for a touch of whimsy. I lost my first set of these cookie cutters and was glad to find them on Amazon!
