Child Mermaid Costume

5 stars because it was less than $20 and took us to 2 events!We purchased this costume for 2013 Halloween. My daughter went to a Halloween Ball and Trick or Treating.The color is exactly as shown in the picture. The tiara comes with the costume, but not the seaweed boa-we purchased that separately (and it was perfect too!). The tiara does not have little teeth to hold it in place, so I used mini clips and it didn't budge.The sequins fall off, as stated in other reviews. It seems like a lot if you look on the floor, but does not seem to make a difference in the presentation of the costume. As my daughter walked, she still shimmered.As for fit, my daughter is a size 10 and is 70 pounds while her height is 53 inches. We took the medium and it fit perfectly. The only problem we had was the fishtail. I pinned it slightly so that she could walk without stepping on it, and it still looked like a mermaid tail and hid her feet.For the tiara, I embellished it with rhinestones and added ribbon so that it would fall behind her. I also created a starfish wand.

Cute and quality is normal for costumes. The only issue we had the most complaints over was the tail. It is wide, easy to step on & costume runs a tad big but we just pinned it up and called it good.

I loved this costume and my 5 year old loved it! The sizes do run slightly large but we live in Wisconsin so it worked perfectly for her to wear her sweaters and fleece pants under this. The bottom fins do not puff out on their own like on here. You have to find a way to get them to stay out on your own. I ended up tying them up higher with hair ties so it wouldn't drag too much while out walking, it did make it puff out a little better too! Of all of the ariel costumes I searched for this was the best one for the money! And it does not come with the boa but those are pretty easy to find!

While this costume is cute, my daughter says it is really itchy. My biggest issue with this costume is the false information given concerning the origin of the costume. I purposefully bought this one because it says it is 'Made in the USA'. When I received the costume yesterday, I saw that the package and costume says 'Made in China'. Also, the headband is so cheaply made and looks awful. I may end up returning this one.

The costume is cute but my daughter can't wear it... sizing something for kids age 4 to 6 is WAY too big a range. Even though her measurements fit the guide, it's ENORMOUS on her. I'll have to put it away for a while, like 2 years.

Little confused cause I thought the hair would be red, but other than that, this Little Mermaid costume looks just like the movie. The 50/50 metallic, polyester blend shimmers like Ariel in Disney’s animated musical fantasy film inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s Danish fairy tale of the same name. Have you seen it? It’s inspiring to see such a strong female lead in Ariel find great success under the sea and over the sea. Just like the women in Kansas City. The C-Suite that is. The women are running the show in KC, a city in the top 15 for female entrepreneurs, and one with a 1% bias towards women in computer and mathematical occupations. That’s right, the future is bright for strong female leaders in Kansas City. Bright as the sequin and lurex fabric on this mermaid costume from California Costumes.

I took measurements of our seven year old and used the size chart to determine what size to buy. Based on all but a few measurements, I should have purchased a small, but I went ahead and ordered a medium. Our daughter tried it on last night and the sleeves come just past her elbows and the bottom of the costume to mid calf. Our daughter is 54" tall. Needless to say it looks odd and nothing like the picture. *sigh* Also, some of the sequins are coming off & we only took it out of the package and had one quick try on!

Very cute, fit well though a bit longer than I thought and is as what you would expect from a child costume. Actually maybe even better! after a few uses some of the sequence falls of but is expected.
