I really enjoy them for hiking, and daily use. Gives me a bit of flexibility in my foot movement by not being totally locked down, but tight enough to stay secure and not slip. Adjustable as needed, when needed. I've never had a pair break in 5 or 6 years in dozens of pairs of shoes. My shoes wear out well before the laces are shot. I'd always recommend bringing a spare set either way as you never know what will happen on the trail. Worst case you've brought along some light weight stretchy cordage that you could use for other things in a pinch.

I am 70 years old, and yes my shoes come untied. It’s not easy bending over. I also have RA and COPD, which makes it a little more difficult. These things are game changers. I got a blue pair and a black pair. I ended up giving the black pair to my grandson that’s is 10. He can tie his shoes, but doesn’t like to. When I get more money I’m going to get me a pair of black ones. I put the strings out of my shoes into the zip lock bag. I watched the video and that’s it. Super super easy. I love these things. It’s the simple things that makes us happy.

I have purchased probably six pair of these stretchy laces. They have saved so much frustration with my grandson - he hasn't yet learned to tie his shoes, and these are a huge time saver. I have them on my own sneakers as well - I have a very painful back and bending is the hardest thing I do - these make it quick and easy to get into my shoes. The most recent pair purchased had one faulty clip, and I contacted the company to ask for just a replacement clip. They sent an entire new package - wow! Highly recommend the product and the company.

I had Salomons with their quick lace system that I absolutely loved. When I bought a new pair of Vans for work, I wanted the same quick lace ability. The laces are stretchy enough that I can put the shoes on and off without adjusting the tension. But they can be tightened if need be. I don't think that I will go back to regular laces on my work shoes.

In case you're wondering if these fit the Salomon Speed Assault Boots, yes, but with a minor adjustment. You'll have to take out the plastic piece where the shoe strings go through on the boot. These strings seem to be more durable than the original ones the boots come with so hopefully they last a while.
