Versatile tin but end product massive!
I am giving 5 stars, but have to return as it is just not feasible for me as it's just too big! Shame it's not a useable size, I wouldn't be able to use it regularly enough to justify the cost. Wish I could. It is very big, I was so excited to use this, as wanted to make a number cake without faffing about with 'templates', first try review- too much cake waste as wasn't sure on how much batter to use. I used my recipe for 2 round 9 inch cakes - twice, as wanted 2 layers- Finished cake is massive, Number 16 cake trimmed & trimmed again to fit the board & box I bought on Amazon. Once cake was on the board, could not fit cake in my American style fridge, as you would whilst crumb coating etc.I'm a Homebaker/Hobby Baker but don't like things complicated. Bought this as wanted to try number/letter cakes. Initially on inspection I wanted to return. However, decided to try it out first so I could give an 'all round' review.Prime delivery excellent. The tin itself is well made as you would expect from Wilton. The inserts however, very thin and very easily bent out of shape with very sharp edges. Instructions are easy on how to use the inserts. You as the baker will need to work out amount of batter needed. Don't expect Inserts to sit 'tight' in the grooves, I was worried my batter which was a wet mixture, would run- it didn't. First time using this tin, I greased and lined the entire base, greased the inserts too. Left cake to cool in tin before turning out onto another piece of greaseproof paper which aids moving the cake around. I was a bit heavy handed with the cutting edge as instructed to define the numbers. Will know for next time. I have bought 2, because if making double numbers you need 2! No need to buy individual moulds.Would I recommend- Yes, but be aware final cake is massive!

Already looking forward to the next occasion to use it again!
Very happy with this cake tin. Comes with instructions to make any number/letter. I had so many compliments on the cake it produced. I know a few people have said it could do with instructions on how much cake mixture is needed for each configuration so for the number 1 I used to make Victoria sponge: 400g sugar, 400g SF flour, 400g butter, 8 eggs, 2 tsps baking powder and 4 tbsps milk. I baked the cake in 2 halves and sandwiched it together and this made an extra large cake but certainly had the wow factor. The instructions say to do the number backwards so you can turn it upside to get the cake out but I just did it the right round and although a little tricky managed to turn it out just fine after lining well with baking paper. I can’t wait for the next excuse to use this cake tin and feel it’s an investment as I’ll be using it for many celebrations to come!

Amazing value given how many different shape cakes this can create.
Stumbled across this whilst looking for number cake tins for a family birthday. Loved the idea of its versatility and how it great it would be to only have one tin in cupboard that could make so many different numbers and letters.Used it to cook chocolate brownies In and was happy with the shape and ease of use. Pans have a good non stick finish and only needed wiping clean. The only thing I struggled with was getting the baking paper to fit the irregular shapes I am tempted to try it without Next time as I ended up with creases in cake where baking paper wasn’t perfect. I guess if you were icing cake it would matter less.

It will do but a little disappointed
As this is a Wilton pan, I expected a bit more perfection to be honest. The instructions with it are very helpful and clear as to how to lay out your numbers. However, the inserts have rounded edges, which mean they don't meet up exactly at the corners (per picture). As a result, the batter seeps into those little gaps and gives you a little pointy bit at the edge of your cake, which will need to be trimmed off. It seems you also need to place the inserts in a particular direction to get them to fit the grids. For example, if you place two inserts next to each other with the joins facing each other, they don't slot into the grids properly. The tin itself is good and sturdy and releases nicely. The inserts are not quite so sturdy and are very flexible down the sides, particularly the larger ones. I foresee care will need to be taken when handling them or they are going to bend and distort. Overall, I'm ok with the tin as it will save baking sheet cakes, carving and sticking together. I've just made a J so far, as a trial run for my grandson's wedding cake. Glad I did as they are lessons to be learned as to the best way to use it. We'll see how the R turns out!

One of the best things ever!
Bought this as I wanted to make an X-Men Jean Grey / Phoenix inspired cake for my boyfriend's birthday. Comes with instructions for every number and letter which was really handy. The X I wanted to do though need 4 of the same part and the set only comes with 3. I used 1 of the next size up and once cut out there wasn't an issue. I used a 4 egg cake recipe and doubled it which was more than enough. The cake turned out amazing, I 100% recommend this set!
