Keeps the hitch ball clean, rust free, and ready to use. I put some lube in the cover to allow ease of installation, plus the ball will be lubed for use. Also keeps clothing clean if rubbed on the ball. Protects items from dirt and grease if the shank is in a storage box. Fits snug. Not sure how durable it is when subjected to extreme weather. Cold conditions may hinder installation or removal.

Excellent fit

It's simple really. The CURT 21800 Black Rubber Trailer Hitch Ball Cover, 1-7/8 or 2-Inch does exactly what I need it to do and is inexpensive and durable. I like to keep a smear of grease on my trailer ball at all times and the cover keeps things from getting messy. 5 stars!

Trailer hitches should NOT be rusty. They should be clean and well-lubricated. But that is messy. Unless you have one of these hitch covers.I have not been able to find these for years - glad they are finally being carried somewhere!Easy to use, even in the cold. They do get stiff, but as long as you are slow about putting them on/taking them off, they work great.If you store your hitch inside the car, this keeps the car from getting greasy! A perfect accessory!

A little tight on a 2 inch ball, but a small hole punched near the top to let air in or out makes installing and removing a lot easier.

Bought this because I grease the hitch before hooking up my trailer. When I unhitch, I just put this on and don’t worry about grease getting on my leg which I have done.
