Note: Our Pâte de Fruits are made to order. This means we don't keep our products on shelves, we start the order once you place it. We then, allow them to dry a little bit but not too much. Our pâte de fruit are extremely fresh and will be slightly softer than others you may have tasted. We carefully select our fruits from the local orchards and farmer's markets, at the peak of the season when available. All pieces are cut by hand. The tradition of Pâte de Fruits dates back to the Middle Ages (around the 10th century) in the region of Auvergne in France. Cooking the fruit to a thick paste was a method of preserving the fruits beyond the season. Their taste quickly appealed to the connoisseurs, and the Pâte de Fruits furnished the royal tables. The oldest are apple-based, and the most popular in French history are apricot Pâte de Fruits. For centuries, the recipe was kept a secret by the monasteries, before crossing the threshold of the most renowned pastry shops. "Thank you for your business" sticker is no longer on the packaging.

Fresh and delicious perfect 🥰
This is my third purchase and I am still amazed and delighted about the freshness, the taste and the quality of these genuine pate de fruits. They are very fresh like they have been made a few days ago but also know that if you let them dry, the flavor will be more concentrated and it is a blast of flavors in your mouth!I like both textures fresh or more dry. The French chef behind this product knows what he is doing.I am French and I can tell these are the same (even better) you would find in your confection boutique. Before I found this French Artisan, I bought some imported pate de fruits from France but let's be honest, they come from a factory and the list of ingredients bothers me. Gelling agent, acidifier, fruit flavorings etc...You don't need all that to make pate the fruits! And I'm proud to support this small business here in the USA.They really deserve it, so give them a try and you won't regret it!

Delicious and beautiful!
This was a gift and the packaging reflects that. The product itself is fresh and authentic, not to mention always delicious! You can't go wrong with Chef's edible creations.

Not French, but authentically french style, and delicious.
Their write-up is a bit much, you can't say the fruit is in peak season if you have fruits that are at their best at different times of the year, but having said that the quality was there, if expensive. I bought them for a treat for my mother in a nursing home, and she knows her pates de fruits. These passed muster, so I am pleased. The fruit flavors are intense, the texture just right (not too much pectin), and it's a splurge for every once in a while. The squares are just the right size for a burst of flavor, but the temptation is to try all the flavors! I just gave it four stars due to the price. There are less expensive alternatives from France.

Truly delightful pate de fruits. Flavors are genuine. A road map to which is which would help!
I have been a devotee of pate de fruit since my first trip to France in the 1970’s. Finding these starteside is a challenge; making my own was a kitchen disaster. This fruit assortment of pectin gelled candies is fantastic and fresh. My box included 6 flavors (strawberry, blueberry, quince, pear, peach, apricot). All delicious. My only criticism, and not enough to reflect in a rating, is that I defy anyone to tell a peach, quince or apricot candy apart by sight. Sure you can eat them but that’s kind of committing before you know what you are getting. It was easy to tell the other 3 flavors apart by color but the 3 in question were hard to assess before eating. These are the best pate de fruits I’ve had outside of France. Fantastic.

A bit expensive for just 12 fruit jellies
Much smaller than expected.

Savor the flavors. French yet hand made in San Rafael, California
A friend introduced me to Zam Artisan Chocolates- Pate de Fruits. This is probably the most delicious Pate de Fruits I have ever tasted. The first thing you notice is the texture. Smooth, tender, enough firmness to savor the flavors of the different fruits. It’s light on your palette with just enough sweetness. Not overbearing. This is uniquely French yet hand made in San Rafael (Marin County), California. I love how it is packaged for gifts. Simple yet elegant. I will be buying more for gifts so I can share this unique flavorful experience with my friends and family. Diane Lee
