OXO SteeL Dishwasher Safe Meat Tenderizer,Silver

Glad I got this instead of the aluminium one by OXO. Looks and feel premium quality, the finish is really amazing. Its light for a steel but still have some weight to it with a nice balance. Just the right size pounder with a gentle curve and a well defined tenderizer part. For a practical tool, this is somewhat like the ferrari among its peers, likely to garner compliments.

Great meat hammer! I use it all the time - quality, solid product

It's a meat hammer. You beat your meat with it.Handle feels great, hammer has decent weight but is still light enough to be easy to use and easy on the wrist.Finish is very nice and makes it look a little nicer than your grandma's meat mallet. Works great for chicken if you want to get a nice flat surface for an even fry.Love that it can be tossed in the dishwasher.Will keep being an OXO customer as long as they keep making nice products like this. I can't imagine a scenario where this is going to fail. It's a hunk of metal.

My mom has this fantastic old meat tenderizer hammer that weighs a ton and is pretty big and has lasted 50 years. I was hoping to find some thing like that but of course nobody makes stuff like that anymore. However, I decided to put my trust in oxo because they are a reliable brand that makes actually usable stuff. (Does everybody know that OXO actually started out making kitchen products that Would be easier to use for people with physical limitations? But the products were so great that then everybody wanted to use them! I was so impressed with the company when I found that out.) When I received this tenderizer I thought it seemed too light and small. But, it’s just right. It gets the job done about as well as my mom’s Thor hammer. This shouldn’t surprise me from such a consistent brand. But I’m always pleasantly surprised.

The handle and faces are "the OXO parts" of this tool. The grip is spot-on, as you have come to expect from OXO products. The faces are slightly cambered to keep your hand off the table/cutting board when striking flatly, which is a superb level of detail. The weight is sufficient to make quick work of the chicken we've tried this with, and not too heavy to wield. Dishwasher safety means clean-up is a breeze, and it escaped our washer without any imperfections at all!

The material is easily cleaned. The performance of the tenderizer is very versatile.

So far I’ve only used this to pound/flatten chicken but it worked well. It’s got a good weight and comfortable grip. Good quality, it appears to be a solid material, not just something with a metal coating. It says dishwasher safe but I’ve only washed by hand so I can’t say how it holds up from dishwashing. I always put meat in a plastic bag or plastic wrap when I flatten it so hand washing has been sufficient.
