Updated Review: Product broke in 3 mos, READ THIS about manufacturer warranty!
FINAL UPDATED REVIEW:The seller (ship_option_#1) refused to do anything because the 30-day Amazon return window had passed, EVEN THOUGH I clearly explained that the manufacturer (Hozelock) states that all returns must be handled by the person who sold the product. When I reported this to Hozelock they said that they cannot honor any warranty claims for items that are sold by "third party" Amazon sellers. If the product is purchased directly from Amazon then Amazon (at least in the UK, don't know about here in the USA) should replace the item even after the 30 day window IF the purchaser contacts Amazon Customer Service directly by phone and explains the situation. But if the item was sold by a third-party or "Amazon Partner", the manufacturer's guarantee does not apply and is useless. The lesson here is that if you are going to buy a Hozelock product on Amazon, make sure you buy FROM AMAZON, and NOT FROM A THIRD PARTY SELLER ON AMAZON if you want the Hozelock guarantee (which ranges from 1 to 5 years depending on the item) to be honored!I thought I was saving $15 by buying this hose reel on Amazon rather than from an independent online retailer who was more expensive.... and would have honored the Hozelock warranty when the item broke. Now I have a broken hose reel that cost me $52 for three months of use. Not exactly what I'd call a good deal!JUNE 2019 REVIEW UPDATE:This is an update to my original review which also appears below. When I went to use the Pico Reel today, after only about a half dozen total uses (!) and being kept in the garage whenever not in use ..... the spray head now refuses to shut off. I assume some little plastic bit or bob somewhere in the handle must have broken or disengaged, but in any case the water just comes through as soon as the tap is turned on, even though the handle is in the 'off' position. Of course it's past the 30-day Amazon return window, so now I must figure out how to claim under the supposed 5 Year Warranty. Luckily I read the fine print on the packaging, which says that the warranty only applies if the purchaser registers the item with Hozelock ... which I did do on April 3rd. So now I suppose the dance will begin. Very unhappy at this point.I will come back and edit this review to report on my experience with the warranty/guarantee process.MY ORIGINAL 3-STAR REVIEW: I really wanted to like this, because I already own one of Hozelock Auto-Reels and thought this would be handy for watering plants fairly close to the hose spigot. It is lightweight and very easy to transport but does have some issues that I find disappointing.First and foremost, the spray head tends to leak quite a bit; not from the connection itself but from the "face" area. No matter what spray pattern it is set to, there is some amount of additional 'drip' while in operation. This is especially noticeable when using what I assume is the "soft spray" pattern which in order to not leak prodigiously has to be held in an entirely vertical position (it will still leak but it won't matter because the leak/drip won't end up on your shoes or pants leg.)Second, one must be mindful when reeling the hose back up because it will bunch and snag very easily. If you do it slowly and in a perfectly straight line it will probably work fine but it will become stiffer and harder to turn when reeling up the final few feet.Third, the yellow hose length that runs from the spray head to the body is pretty much useless because if you try to get a longer length that way (by setting the body down on the ground) it simply flops over and makes the gray hose kink. So the useful length is less than advertised (they take the total length of the two hoses into account) and is in no way as much as 30 feet (10m).It is better than toting a watering can but not nearly as useful as it could be. I see that this same item (identical except for the colors) is being manufactured by at least one other company and so I assume they are all the same in terms of usability and issues.
