Bought this to help tie hook lengths, where I wanted a consistent loop size and a consistent length.Using this means there is the need to tie the loop manually, and then use the prongs to set the size of the loop when tightening it up.This is different from the 'beak type' loop tiers, which are very easy to use, but there is not a lot that can be done with the loop size and I personally find that really fine lines always seemed to give problems when trying to get the line off the tier.There are other sizers available (Sensas, Browning, etc. ) but they tend to be just 2 choices, where as this one is 8, 10, 12 and 15mm.Only downside, and why I didn't award 5 stars, the mm size for each set of prongs is stamped onto the sizer, but only on one side, and it's not always so easy to see. Sods law is that I have a looped hook length to tighten in one hand, and I have to faff about swapping it over to be sure I've got the correct gap.Considering the Preston logo is stamped on both sides, it wouldn't have taken much to have done the size on both, and in a larger sized font to make it easier to see, perhaps something for version 2. (I just used a paint pen to write on them.).

Great tool insuring identical loop sizes each time. Small and simple to use, a must have for any fishing kit.

This is a neat tool to help you get a consistent size of loop. I thought it was also a tyer. It is not. Given I now understand, it is a good widget.
