My apartment doesn't have a garbage disposal for some reason. None of the apartments in my building do. Don't get me started on that, I'll go on all day. I needed a solution for food waste, because I didn't want to put it in the regular trash.This thing looks nice, and is the perfect size to sit on my (smallish) kitchen counter. I don't know why other commenters have complained about it not sealing, because it does. And it is beyond beyond me why you would get maggots? I almost threw up at some of the reviews. I mean, how often are you people leaving the same bag in there to rot? Whenever I change the waste bag out, I also wash the container out and lysol down the sides. There are no odor problems.I'm not sure what the carbon thing is for, but it came with two, and I'll probably order another few when those run out.

Pale was works fine. I had a problem with the filters that were supposed to come with it and they weren't. I contacted the seller but never got a response like I said, though the pale works well.

So far this has not rusted unlike the painted can I used to have. The carbon filter works reasonably well to reduce compost smell. I like that it comes with a spare set of carbon filters. It is a good size that is not obtrusive or does not take up too much counter space.

My condo has to collect food scraps and place in organic disposal place, as it is state law. I did NOT want to collect and empty food scraps daily. This little device is perfect. I can put scaps in it and not smell the decaying process. Sure when you open it you know decay is happening but the filters in the top really work. No smell anywhere near the canister. Great little container.

This is the perfect size for keeping your composting items easily on your countertop. It completely contains any smell for well over a week if you need it to. Mine usually fills more quickly than that, but there have been a few times it has sat longer and it has zero smell, unless of course you open it. Blends in well, sells tightly, charcoal filter.

I really like this for golding our composting before taking it outside. The scents are not noticeable unless you open the lid then only for a minute. You do need to keep it clean in-between dumplings. I use it for potato peels banana peels onion skins etc all food items. ..egg shells. Over time it will get a pin hole it the base I am on my third one. I would purchase this repeatedly for the ease of use the lack of oder with the charcoal filters and it lasts for several years or more before getting thw pin hole.

after months of use, this is the only 304 steel body container that dies not leak chromium and manganese under a load, tested at 18 amps with saturated Ag nitrate as both anode and cathode, no detectable contamination. And in contiguous 3 to 4v load / under 6 amps. Handle Is NOT same quality, will rust, don't use it as a conductor . Rivets seem to be ok for use as contact in a pinch. Get thermo gel pad for bottom to improve contact if cooling, otherwise expect high 80s with under 20watts (not a super conductor but is better than expected)
