Safe and reliable
Helps warm up my bird when the house gets a little chilly in the winter. Took her a few days to get close to it but she eventually warmed up to it. (No pun intended).

Birds are happy and warm
I bought one like this years ago. It keeps the cage warmer and I put a blanket over the cage also and it really warms it up. We live in a northern part of the USA so it gets pretty cold at times. But I have more birds and I needed another one so I decided to get one like it. I like that it fastens on the outside of the cage and the heater is on the inside.

Works as expected
Works as expected. Our bedroom is way colder than the rest of the house and we we're getting a snow storm. I wanted to make sure my baby was warm. He instantly started nuzzling it when I put it up. I love that it comes with a chew guard already. The size is smaller than I thought but it still does the job. It's easy to clean not very thick and doesn't make any noise.

The 3x5 is a great size for Quaker Parrots
My Quaker Parrot is a huge fan of this little heater! He avoided it the first day, but by the next day he figured it out. The heater feels like it puts off about the same amount of heat as a good heated blanket, and is plenty warm for a bird to snuggle up to on the colder days. My bird lets me know he's ready for bedtime by snuggling up against his heater every night. We have the heater set up on a Christmas light timer, so the heater turns on at 7pm and turns off at 7am.While the wire that's connected to the heater sits outside of the cage and away from the bird's reach from inside the cage, he can still easily reach it when he's climbing around on the outside of the cage. He quickly and easily chewed through the protective plastic cover coating the wire. The wire itself would be difficult for him to chew through and damage. We still played it safe by running the wire through a PVC pipe and elbow connectors so he can't get to the wire at all now.Overall, excellent product that gives our bird some extra warmth on those cold nights!

Works well
The only thing I would like is for there to be an indicator to know when its on, and a switch to turn off instead of having to unplug

Great for small birds’ cages
It heats a very small amount but it’s just enough for them to snuggle up next to on chilly nights. My bird was skeptical the first day it was in her cage. The next day she was sitting close to it. The cord was long enough to reach a wall socket nearby and it should be noted not to use with an extension cord, but the cord is very long.

Calls to the vet and a friend who has kept exotics for years confirmed my fears of "it's probably time" and instructed to keep h
My 27 year old Sun Conure appeared to be slowly failing the last few weeks and then a very unusual night terror predicated a very steep decline the next morning. I chose not to provide extraordinary measures, tests or procedures to determine the treatment due to her age. Calls to the vet and a friend who has kept exotics for years confirmed my fears of "it's probably time" and instructed to keep her warm and comfortable. The only additional suggestion I took was to add Avi Booster supplement to her fresh veggies and fruits. I cranked up my bedroom space heater to a tropical 75-80 degrees and kicked off my covers at night. LOL. As a couple days went by and she seemed to enjoy the fortified food, I looked into getting some sort of heating pad to put under the cage so I wouldn't have to keep running the heater as often. I thought of outdoor animals who have heated beds during the cold winter months. Maybe something I could put under the cage and her little sleeper nest box. But then I found this unusual and fabulous item. Amazon's detailed description and glowing reviews which also described it rather specifically (as well Amazon's free return if it didn't suit our needs....) made me give it a try. Desperate times calling for desperate measures and all... And, OMG! She LOVES it!!! It's not hot but warm to the touch. She really does snuggle up to it. If it is cool I'll still crank the heat for a few minutes to take the chill off, but the space heater is no longer needed. At this point, I didn't care how much electricity it would take if it was safe and kept her comfortable, but - hello - takes only 5 watts!!! It's been a little over two weeks now and she has recovered 110%!!! The combination of keeping her warm and the food supplement has given us a new lease on life. I cannot thank Amazon and K&H enough. My only regret is that I was clueless about this product years ago - she would have loved this.

Bird loves it but a flaw
I have a sun conure that loves this heater . I keep my home in the cooler side in winter and summer . It took him about a week to learn it gives off heat . I can say that he has chewed the backside when he is out of the cage . I wish they would have encased the electric wire in metal to avoid the bird chewing the wire . I know others on line have said the same thing . I have used a temperature gun to measure the heat it puts out . Consistently it is about 102 degrees . I did use a blue tooth timer and remote device to control when it’s on. It’s hooked up to my cell phone . I can control it from anywhere . I only downgraded this item by one star due to the exposed wire on the back . I worry my bird may chew it and get shocked . I am going to attempt to cover it myself with something from Home Depot . As any bird lover knows these guys try to chew at everything .
