Rain Gauge Dragonfly Garden Stake - SPI Home Aluminum Gauge for Precipitation

I find the rain gauge to be quite accurate which surprised me. It is cute and non-attention gathering in a flower garden which I find charming.

We needed a rain guage for our garden to keep track of how much water it was receiving. I ordered this one because I like dragon flies, wanted something more decorative, and in our hot Texas sun plastic doesn't last very long and this guage is glass. When it arrived I found it was much prettier than the picture shows and there is great difinition in both the dragon fly and the rod it is perched on. The glass tube holds up to 8" of water which has occured here during hurricane season. There is a rubber, ribbed band at the bottom of the tube that was a bit confusing at first but you have to just slowly work it to the top of the tube and it serves to hold the tube in place when you push it through the holder and keep the glass from rubbing around the rim. The gauge is about 24" but when in the ground about 18". I think anyone would find this a lovely, and functional additon to their garden. I saw this item elsewhere for a lot more money than at Amazon. It came exactly as scheduled and shipped for free. What more could you want! Thank you Amazon!

Be careful when you empty and put back gauge back in place. If you slightly drop in, it will break the top lip. Better to put a rubber gasket under lip. Cut myself on it today prepping for the hurricane

Looks great in a planting bed adjacent to our deck.As others have stated, I was worried about cracking the glass tube by dropping it into the frame.Found a cork-like washer in the plumbing parts section of my Ace Hardware that fits perfectly up against the neck of the tube - solves that concern entirely! (I think it’s a 3/4” inside diameter washer…)

I'm on my second of these, not because of any durability or quality of manufacture issue, but because I left out the glass measuring tube over the winter last year and it broke from water freezing & expanding.Lesson for all: if you live someplace that gets cold for the winter, take out the glass tube and store until spring.Otherwise, it looks very nice... nicer than I thought it would. I'm always happy to see it when I go round to read the gauge.

Very nice, gave it as a gift for Christmas. She loves it, it's sturdier than others, easy to read, rustic type and really beautiful and beautifully made. Don't buy the colored tin guage's you see everywhere~they dont last, I know first hand, more than once ~ this one should last for years. I think I will be buying one for myself.
