Bought this to make Thai Green Papaya salad. Quite pricey per ounce. Easy to grate because it is not too hard. Not sure how much difference the flavor is with Thai palm sugar versus block cane sugar for the papaya salad. Not the most budget friendly (that's why 4 stars) when making a large salad but is a good product.

Shrink wrapped discs of palm sugar, you will need a pestle and mortar to break it up or use warm water to make a paste

I'm from Houston and have used this kind of sugar before. Just out of the package, the sugar already tastes like a Southern praline, just without the toasted pecans. Imagine adding this to an ice cream, or an apple pie or a German Chocolate cake. The more subdued sweetness is amazing. This isn't the overly sweet and otherwise tasteless refined cane sugar. Palm sugar tastes of caramel with background notes that would make for a mighty fine syrup for a flan.You really need to try this if you haven't already.

It's hard to find this sugar locally. Last time I bought locally they were hard as bricks. These are soft enough to easily grate, and the taste is wonderful. Will purchase again.
