Kinga like the old Victor wood base mouse traps that are the cheapest and most effective.I could have purchased this animal trap for $9 less on a certain ship from China site, but it would take 2 weeks to arrive and is way more at risk of being damaged from all the handling, so Amazon is the better choice.There are loads of defects in these flimsy, cheap Chinese versions of this trap, and many people without a good analytical sense just give up and return them.But, if you're accustom to using these traps then the hacks and fixes are worth knowing.1. Use a wood cloths pin to hold the door open while working on the trap.2. Install the back door bar and bend the ends to curl around the cage frame to hold it in place.Then use some lock wire to keep the back door closed permanently.If you think you're going to let a scared animal out by reaching in and removing the hold bar, then you're asking to be bitten. Just hold the front door open and tilt down.3. Install the release bar on the outside, use heavy duty pliers to close the circle on the hook that goes into the plate hole, this will prevent it from constantly falling off.4. install the front support U-bar, goes through the metal bands on the top and into the flat brackets on the sides.Then lock wire this into place on the cage, it also tends to fall out when handling.5. Then connect the release bar to the door catch and close the circle hooks with heavy pliers these will always fall off if you don't.6. The door catch can be easily adjusted to a slight pressure release by holding the release hook wire with a pair of heavy pliers and slightly bending the release hook with pointed vise grips to increase or lighten pressure needed on the step plate to close the door with just a slight pressure.Now the trap is parentally set up, CAN NOT be folded to put away, but it is sturdy and won't come apart.I like to cover the pressure plate and entrance with a Towel or T-shirt. This enhances the likelihood that a cat will step on the plate, as some kitties are smart and careful and will step over the pressure plate to get the tuna fish prize.CHECK OUT THE PICS AND VIDEO...

The media could not be loaded. This trap comes with instructions that make it seem easy to assemble. However, maybe I got a poorly constructed trap because I found a few extra clamps that were not mentioned in the instructions. Then I noticed that the clamp that holds the top of the door was also open. The metal used seems very flexible. I am returning this trap because I really don't want to injure the animals I am trying to trap. I am afraid that this trap's clamps will not withstand any struggle the animal may give.Update: I contacted the seller and they were very helpful and sent a replacement trap. This trap feels sturdy and there are no loose parts to it. Tested it out and it works well. I have included the pictures and video of the new trap. This is why I changed my review to 5 stars

A pain to put together, but successfully trapped opossums for relocating.

Update: 11-21-21 I caught some more cats and some raccoons, see new pictures I just added!Our back yard was overrun with cats from a female cat, that showed up at a neighbors home and made a nest under their storage shed and had many babies! ;-(The owner and I called every place we knew of, that might take the kittens after they were weened, and every organization said NO they were full!Our local "Animal Protective League" (APL) said they would help with cutting the cost of getting them spayed or neutered, so at least that part could be done, so they won't be having any more babies.A few places put our names on a waiting list and would call if they had an opening, and one day out of the blue, almost 6 months later a "No Kill Shelter" called "Meow Meow", and said they would like to interview me.So I went in, told them our predicament and they agreed to take them all, Praise God!!!I asked if I could borrow a cage, as I had never trapped before, but they had none to loan out.I did some research on line and after reading lots of reviews on "Amazon" and "Walmart", I choose to buy this cage on "Amazon" because they had the best reviews, and I must say it has really done its job, as you can see by the pictures I posted!!!It is sturdy and is easy to set up and priced right! :-)I bait the cage's trigger plate with "tuna", and as soon as the cat steps on it, to eat the tuna, the door slams shut trapping them inside the cage!!! :-)The cat tries everything it can to get out, but this cage really holds them in good, which is a great, because if they could even get a paw out of a hole, they would put the hurt on me, as they are really pissed off once caged!!! :-(I then pick up the cage by the 2 handles that came with it and take it to the back of my truck and cover them with a tarp, "they say on line, this calms them down and I must agree it does."After a little calming period I go back out and take their pictures, as you can see, (updated April 24th, 2022) so far I have caught 30 Cats, 1 possum, and 3 raccoons!I have not caught them all "YET", (3 or 4 to go) but I have high confidence that this cage will hold up to meet the challenge!! I will then donate it to APL.This cat shelter is only open weird hours 10:15 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. so I only trap starting at 8 a.m. and shut it down at 3:00 p.m. and I don't trap when its raining or snowing out.It takes 45 minutes to get there from my home and I NEVER keep the trap out overnight, because I don't want to catch a raccoon, possum or worse yet a skunk!Update: 11-21-21 I have caught 3 raccoons, the cage has held up well even though 2 of them tried like hell to destroy the cage but failed!They did manage to bend the bar that holds the flapper up, and they bent the back bar that keeps the back wall closed, but the cage still held them!I was able to bend them bars back into shape to catch again.I can't wait for this to end, I am getting tired of doing this, but glad I bought this cage, as it has held up very well!!Do yourself a favor and buy this GREAT trap!!!I added some more cat pictures and some raccoon pictures that I caught!Sincerely Keith,A Happy Buyer from Illinois :-)

Works ok on smaller raccoons, possums, etc. but metal to weak to handle large raccoons, even though that's what it supposed to be for, literally tore trap apart.

Worst company. I ordered this cage it was very flimsy and not good quality. I asked for a refund and sent the cage back using their label. Instead of giving me my money they sent me another one. I don't know why because I wanted a refund. Why would I want another flimsy -cheaply made cage? I asked again for a refund and sent back the second cage using their label. I have both receipts that I dropped the boxes to UPS. I never have received my refund. I'm tired of trying to get back my money. Just thought I'd warn others..Don't buy this cage!

Easy set up, super affordable. Set it out and caught my feral cat the first night. Easy release with the back cage door. I highly recommend this product
