A favorite
We recently discovered the show on PBS that these books follow. I don't know which came first - but we found the show first. The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That is a big hit in our house. Each books subtly teaches us something. This books starts out with Sally and Nick playing hide and go seek and moves on to the Cat taking them to the jungle to meet his friend, the gecko. You learn what camouflage means and how animals use it to hide. The typical Cat in the Hat rhyming makes the book fun to read and it moves smoothly. This is a Step 2 book. A simple story and simple words to read.

My 5 year old loves this.

read with Seuss
this book is fine for beginning readers especially around the time of Read Across America when we try to cover the whole of Dr Seuss. my Kindergarteners can do the basics at this point and they love the books to read themselves.

Great books.
These are great books. I have been reading them to my son since he was one, even though they are for older kids, and he absolutely loves them. We haven't been disapppointed with any in the series.

Not my favorite Cat in the Hat format
We got a bunch of four dollar Cat in the Hat (CITH) books of various formats as party favors for my son's 4th birthday party. As you might expect, all of the books in this price range are no match for more expensive titles like Inside Your Outside: All About the Human Body (Cat in the Hat's Learning Library). Those more expensive titles generally offer more bang for the buck, but sometimes it's nice to have shorter stories when you're running late. I'm reviewing the cheaper ones in relation to each other. Now You See Me is a STEP 2 reading book with big type. It is definitely more difficult than the STEP 1 book Cooking With the Cat (The Cat in the Hat: Step Into Reading, Step 1). The story is cute but shorter than titles like I Love the Nightlife! (Dr. Seuss/Cat in the Hat) (Pictureback(R)) (which are more for parents to read and include stickers). I can't comment on how appropriate this would be for a child just learning to read on their own. It is OK but I like the other formats a bit better.

My little one loved it.
My kindergartener loved reading this book to me over and over. She also loved trying to spy out the chameleon. It was a very enjoyable book!
