Medline Bathtub Safety Grab Bar, Handle Clamps on to Side of Bathtub Shower, Medical Tub Rail for Bathrooms is Great Elderly or After Surgery

I had no luck with a suction cup tension bar because my bathroom wall has small tiles. Although this Medline grab bar seemed pricey, it was worth it! Measure the width of your tub to make sure it is compatible, as it only expands up to a certain width. Once it's on, it's quite sturdy. It's useful for easing oneself in and out of the bath tub or to assist with lifting oneself out although it does warn it's not designed to support full body weight. It is made in China, but the quality seems good. I don't know whether it will rust over time, though. Incidentally, a physical therapist friend recommended getting a grab bar for elderly parents right around when I bought this unit! Save your parents from a life-altering hip fracture!

Directions are explicit. Follow them carefully and set-up is easy. Product works well. Adjust before using EACH TIME as using it can cause the knob to back off so it needs tightening again. But when secure, grab rail is reassuringly steady.

Kids with disabilities meant we needed safety in the bathroom. We installed this and still use it to this day.

Sturdy easy to install

Almost give it 3 star because of the instruction. There is a rubber nub thing that pushes the adjustable clamp to NOT align with the adjustment knob screw. Is it supposed to be there or for packaging purpose only? I don't know. I saw others keeping their rubber nub on the bar, so I don't know how they installed it. With the nub there, it also forces the knob threads to hit the top of the other side of the housing edge causing the knob thread shifted out or in without tightening. Or rather making it very difficult to screw it in. Only after I removed this rubber nub thing, now the clamp side is aligned with the adjustable knob threads and with a bit of oil, now it can be installed and tightened securely. I noticed some of the 3 stars reviewers also said they couldn't tighten it or secure the handle bar and returned the item or give it away. Strange enough, the product photo on the box also kept that rubber nub on the base of the handle. So I don't know, maybe my tub wall was not thick enough. Overall, it's a important but minor thing there that's missed. I tried youtube, nothing helped there. Some other brands do not have this hole and rubber nub thing. 5 stars if it's back to the original sub inflation price.

If you have a bathtub and no where to grab in the event of a potential fall etc., then this product is for you. Simple to install, strong and helpful for getting in/out of the bathtub. Highly recommend this product.

This handle is amazing. Super sturdy and helps getting in and out of the tub. My husband has a back problem and we only have tub/shower combo so he uses it to get in and out. Every night he says this is the best thing you’ve bought!! Just measure tub width and just tighten it. We bought a second one for our other bathroom. I highly recommend it!!!!!!

My plumber was her installing a new tub for me. I'm 71 and have a bad back and knees so taking a shower or stepping into a tub can be a painful experience. I had a basic tub installed with a sliding shower to adjust height. I planned on stepping into the tub and sitting on a stool while taking a shower or soaking my feet. Stepping into the tub was a little uncomfortable for me. The plumber had me hold his arm and step into the tub so he could measure where the two security bars he was going to install should be attached for optimum support. When we were done he suggested I go to Amazon (he knew I shopped here) to look for this Bathtub bar and a step up bathroom step. When I brought the choices up he said this one was the one he highly recommended. I knew I could send it back if there as a problem so I had nothing to lose. Great choice.This is a VERY secure bar that easily clamps on to the side of your tub. My husband had it out of the box and attached to the tub in less than 5 minutes. Let me tell you...it clamps on TIGHT and give you a great feeling of security. I also purchased a "Bath Step by Vive - Safe Step Bathroom Aid for Entering & Exiting Bathtub - Nonslip Bathtub Step Reduces Risk of Injury". It's 20" X 16" X 4" high. Let me tell you stepping up just those 4 secure inches before stepping into the tub makes so a wonderful difference. This two items belong together. Great recommendations from my plumber!!!! I have a stool in my tub too so I can stand or sit depending on how I feel that day.I highly recommend this bathtub bar for stability getting in and out of the tub.
