Versality
I used this on a bass guitar, to hide my considerable shortcomings as a bass player, but also experimented with it to add effects to my drums using a mic. Particularly effective on toms and kick drum (as you might expect) creating a range of weird and very unpredictable sound effects for home recording. Not quite 'Frankenstein' but great fun to use....!!

versatile, works well
Works very well. I can't understand the negative reviews. I've been using it with both my bass and my guitar. It's worth spending a few quid on an expression pedal.

Lot's of fun, but not great for serious use.
I don't know if it was directly because of this device, but when i played my bass guitar through this and into my computer there was a huge delay between what i played and then me hearing it, which makes playing very difficult indeed! And while some of the sounds this makes could possibly pass for a synth, i think you'd probably get a far better version of some of what this is trying to sound like if you just stuck to a warm, valve-like fuzz tone and some kind of wah-wah effect. Still, this IS fun..Later on...I have since played this through a different set up, and the delayed response issue was gone. However, i don't have anything like that big a delay putting the rest of my music making toys into the computer. SOME delay, but not like this was. So rather than significantly alter my initial review i am just adding this bit on the end and letting you make of it what you will. It could be my set up. It could be this. It could be a combination, or something else entirely that's not even occurred to me yet.

Hot garbage, avoid at all costs
I never write Amazon reviews but I feel compelled to do so with this piece of trash. The sound effects themselves would be great, except the consistency with which the synth actually picks up the input from plucking the strings (yes, even with a pick) is so off that it makes it unusable. Frankly I’m shocked they’re even allowed to sell such a shoddy item. Do yourself a favour, don’t waste your time, go look for an alternative.

Excellent pedal
Bass synth noises that make everything that little bit more funky.

it doesn't really work..its a novelty
I have tried various synth bass pedals and have found none of them to be actually usable...bought this and the dirty robot and sent both back.... the future impact one looks to be the only one worth getting...thats very expensive , but as you can buy an actual analogue bass synth for less £230 (£125 second hand) I stopped messing about and got one. (Artruria micro brute) ..it great! ...no tracking issues!

Not for me
The settings on this box are all over the place, very difficult to get the effects to play on a BASS guitar. Not for me. Not many synth effects boxes are any good for Bass Guitar, this is one of them.

Great pedal for any bass guitarist
After watching an online video of this pedal and experience of Electro Harmonix pedals, I thought I would give it a go.This incredible pedal allows you to make a great synth sound with a bass guitar and is a lot of fun.Bonus it is supplied with a mains adapter.Highly recommend.
