My husband has an antique split bamboo fly rod. It was given to him by Ted Williams. He had a carboard tube he kept it in, but I worried that it rubbed together. So I ordered this for him and it is great. Has 3 openings, 1 for each piece of the fly rod, they don't rub together in this holder. It has a place for travel tag and is supposed to be approved for travel, if we ever get to travel again. It has a zipper closing. Very nice,

Hard to find a 3 piece rod case, seems everything is 4 piece now. This fit my 3 piece 5/6 weight 9 foot rod absolutely perfect. It is a hard tube not a soft case, I would feel comfortable/confident checking it as baggage, seems nice and sturdy.

Does the job, my fly rod sections are a little longer than many others (3-piece), so this tube solved that problem. And, there's enough room to comfortably stash my 5' fast-action spin-cast rod... bonus for tiny streams :)Would have like a carrying strap, but then again, that could've been just another thing to break....Wax or otherwise lubricate the zipper and carefully close; although I haven't had a problem, I could see it becoming such if not well maintained.

First off, I bought this for my kids’ bo staffs for karate. It is way more durable, and less expensive than the case I previously bought that was designed for bos. This case is very rigid, but the inside is nicely lined. My son competes internationally, and once we can travel again, this case should hold up very nicely flying.
