Don't buy it
Purchased item for install on a blanket chest ordered by a customer. When it cae time ti install the lid support the instructions were terrible. Not only that, on one on the lifts, the clutch assembly fell apart. I found the button, but the tiny spring is still missing. After some re mounting of the supports, the second one fell apart. I tried getting in touch with amazon but because of the virus, no one andswered. So what's the warranty? Anyway I'd stay far away from this lid support. Defective parts and no afterthe sale support

Spend a few dollars more and get something that actually works
Lousy design. These hinges work on friction only. There nothing that locks them in the open position, so they will slip and bang your hands or head if you're not careful.Poor quality.I bought two. One held pretty well if I torqued the set screw as tight as I could, but the other did not. I put them on a 1/2 inch by 2 ft by 3 ft plywood lid. The lid would stay open for 3 or 4 seconds and then slam closed. Totally worthless.

Works great, attachments don't bend
After trying some piston type supports for hinges, I realized they SLAMMED hard and the metal that attached to the wooden doors was weak and bent. These hinge supports are great as they soft close and the metal attachments to the wood are strong enough not to bend! My only concern is that they are somewhat difficult to install exactly.

This hinge does not soft close through the full travel.
I install the hinges on the lid of my kids wooden toy box hoping it would stop there fingers from being smashed. Well it didn't work. The last 6 inches from the lid closing it still slams. But from full open to about 7 inches from closing it holds the lid in place when tension adjustment as tight as it could be. Then I tighten it to much stripping the allen bold in the center of the hinge.

Don’t use for soft close feature.
Loved the look of them however I purchased them for my grandsons toy box and purposely wanted soft close hinges so he didn’t get hurt. The hinges are not reversible which poses a problem to put one on each side. Plus the soft close stops working about half way then slams shut. I added a photo of the box I built with the hinges installed the lid weighs roughly 7lbs 10lbs tops the hinges claim to support up to 40. And in the picture you will see I had to flip one hinges which when doing so broke the plastic retainer so I had to glue it on the support shoulder to hold it on till I get new hinges.

Don't work like it should
I just opened my hamper again and it just slammed open. This product doesn't open slowly like stated. And when I tighten it up, well then it just stays there. Don't recommend it. Also, it did take me a while to install it.

Good prop. Soft close, not so much
These units were sturdy and fairly easy to install. Instructions included in the package were adequate. The Stuart’s work well as a prop, but as my lid closes, the support loses most of it’s leverage and does not provide a real self close function.

Hinges
Worked ok for my project. Holds lid up no problem, a little faster than I like during the last 6 inches when closing. I really cranked down on the adjustment.

A Very Good Product.
This is a very good product and arrived very quickly, and before the stated time. I purchased this for a small kitchen cabinet that sits above my cooker. I used to have to hold the door open with one hand, and get things out with my other hand, not anymore. This product is easy to assemble and fit. For the connection to the door I found it easier to take it off, then put the door back to fit the hinge to the cabinet. You then tighten with an Allen key supplied, and you have a door that holds open making it so much easier to put things in and out. I could not get the soft close exactly right, but I am not bothered about this and to me this is not important as it locks when you open it, and that is why I bought it. You get two in the pack, but only one is needed, I will use the other one on a toy box.

Rubbish
Absolute rubbish. Do not buy these. The mechanism looks like it could possibly do the job but you will never get that far. The problem is that the sprung arm will not connect to the brackets that you screw to the carcass and the door. There are spring clips that look like they should work, but they don’t, and they never will. On first operation the arm falls off and lands on your foot, then the door falls on your head. Do yourself a favour. Throw 12 quid out the window, then have your friends stamp on you’re foot, and headbutt you. Then watch three hours of reality TV. You will be the same amount poorer, just as angry, and will have wasted exactly the same amount of time. Don’t do it. Run away !

Not soft close hinges
Used these on a child's toy chest where it was important to have the soft close mechanism for the entire travel of the lid. This is not the case, as mentioned in another review, the hinges hold the lid in place when open but do not actually soft close the lid, when it reaches the last 6/7 inches it will just slam closed.

Not good
These are bad. I have fitted many lid supports to many boxes over the years, and these are the worst. The end pivots are hand pressed onto plastic and pop off regularly. They hold the lid open, but let it bang down hard, defeating the purpose. If you tighten the allen screw, they are stiff when fully open, but from half way open, still allow the lid to bang down hard. I used 2 on a MDF lid, 600x400mm, and these were useless. Oh, and the push button pops out, sending the tiny spring flying to who knows where. Won't be buying these again.

No instructions supplied.
Instructions were useless. Had to Google how to fit them but luckily there are always plenty of people with uou tube videos. Works well and happy overall, just had to mess about looking for instructions.
