This was a gift
My friend really does not eat vegies. I kinda sent it as a joke but there are some recipies she wants to try. A very good cook book for someone who has many cook books. Brings something different to the table.

Okay
As someone who truly dislikes vegetables I found that the recipes do not really entice me to try them.

Probably great for most people
I picked this up on a freebie deal. I was drawn to it because I'm not a huge fan of very many vegetables. I thought it might be good to learn a new way to cook something so it would be more appealing to me. My problem is that I have food restrictions. I'm dairy-free, can't eat spicy food and have to have a low fat diet. I thought that since the author said there were ways listed to make the recipes gluten free or vegetarian I might be able to find some good options for me. Unfortunately, that wasn't really the case because vegetarian does not equal vegan. I'm not vegan but vegan recipes insure that they are dairy free. There were dairy products in many if not most of the recipes. I've no doubt that these recipes would taste good because, let's face it, if you put cheese, butter or heavy cream etc on just about anything it will make it taste better. But it would make me ill. I hoped that I could do my own substitutions but I've yet to find a plant based cheese substitute that I really like so that is a no go, plus the fat content would be too high for me even with substitutes for cream and so forth. So this book isn't very helpful for someone like me. If I studied it well enough it might give me ideas that I could work on with my restrictions. But for the average person that can eat whatever they want, I would think these recipes would be helpful. Some of the recipes called for ingredients that were completely unknown to me and living in a small town, I'm not sure they would be readily available.I liked that there was a little review of unusual ingredients to teach what it is and how to use it.I wish, like other reviewers, that there had been photos of all the recipes. I think it would have enhanced the experience. And nutritional content would have been useful to me as well.

Full of good ideas
I bought one of these for myself and one for a friend who also hates vegetables. There are lots of different ideas to try. If you don't like one, you'll probably like one of the others. I like the handy tips about ingredients mixed in between the different recipes. Get it if you need some new ideas for cooking vegetables.

DOESN'T HAVE A THOUGHT OUT INDEX
If you want to prepare a given vegetable, you have to plow through the whole index to find the recipe for that vegetable! Not user-friendly!

Basic
I love all cookbooks but this one is quite basic. No pictures and the meals are very simple.

Good book and recipes!
The book explains how to treat vegetables like a main dish and not just the side dish you barely eat with your steak. Great approach for vegetable haters- will definitely try all the recipes!
